for a TRV, I applied 3 weeks ago, and got it in hand less than 20 days.
this is for the timeline. you can not, anymore, apply for a TRV, if you are in Canada on a Permit.

Besides, you can ask the visa office to withdraw your file, and return it back to you as soon as you get the PPr visa.
I have gone through a withdraw process once, and it is pretty quick. you will be refunded if your case is yet to be investigated.

@ hmdlsd .... THANKS for the reply. I'm in the U.S. I just got an offer in Alberta. I have applied for my permanent residency under AINP category. Now, I don't want to wait for my PR visa. So, I want to apply for my TRV. I am just worried that I shouldn't get my PPR while my TRV is in process. Because during my TRV processing, I will not have my passport with me. Then, how can I send my passport for PR visa to Detroit?

I have two things in mind. for one, I am almost sure, and the second, is a guess (you should check with consulate in advance)

The one I am sure:
Buy a prepaid courier envelope like FedEx for example, with your address as the receiver, and include it in your application package.
if by any chance, you get the PR meanwhile, you will have the option to ask for getting back your documents in two-three days.they are quite fast in returning ! it is not like issuing PRs :)
So if you dont get PR meanwhile you will get your TRv in this envelope, or if you ask to withdraw for any reason, they will hand it to you fast.

the Second is a bit tricky,
if by any chance, you get the great news meanwhile, you can explain the issue to the visa office, and ask them if it is possible for them to send the passport directly to the PPR office. this would spead up a bit.
Howver, I am pretty sure you will have a good margin to be in safe side for sending passport for landing visa.

So dont bother yourself. go for the TRV, and with the current trend, there is a good chance to get TRv pretty soon. way before PR.
but I hope you get PPR first!

:)

Hi

I have created the following website to help New Comers to Canadca to find all the information they need in a single location. I am still working on to update this site. Please do let me know what information I can add to this site to make it more useful.

Please feel free to check it

Thanks

Hi guys, I got the AOR back in June. However, me and my wife couldn't complete the medical reports at the same time as she was pregnant. So our results were sent out in June and August respectively. I just check in e-CAS, my status is still "application received". Does it mean that they still don't receive our medical results? Anyone has any idea how to check if the results were received?

I have been trying to contact CPP-O by email, but never got any reply. Actually, I updated them my address change by email. But it is not changed in the system. Will postal mail be more effective? Really have no idea what I can do at this point...

Close Work Permit & TRV

I have a couple of queries.... If I get my TRV, is there a time limit to land in Canada and start working? Further, if I lose my job, will that make my work permit invalid straight away? Where can I obtain the info? Any link?
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

the ECAS only shows the status for primary applicant, not the dependent or spouse. The only way you can get medical status for non-primary applicants is to apply GCMS, which will tell you the medical status, pass or not, for each of them. But you need to ask your spouse to sign a separate form to authorize such release when you fill out your authorization form. Check out previous posts this threat for more infor how to apply GCMS.
