Got the following email from Ottawa yesterday. Looks like this is their new 'generic' reply.

Thank you for your email message concerning the application for permanent residence.

Your file has only recently been transferred from the former Visa Office in Buffalo to this office in Ottawa for processing and it represents only one of thousands of files that we need to integrate into our own workload and this process will take several months to realize fully. Nevertheless, we are actively reviewing files on an ongoing basis to ensure that priority be given to those clients whose files have been transferred from Buffalo and whose applications were submitted at an earlier date than those who have applied more recently to our Department. You can rest assured that we are making every effort to offer fair treatment to all our clients, on a first-come, first-served basis.

We note that the processing of your file is actually well advanced. Medical results have already been received. The validity of these results will be extended, if necessary, to provide a sufficiently long period of time to enable you to obtain permanent residency before the expiration of their validity.

We will be reviewing your file in the next several weeks and anticipate that we should be in a position to finalize the file within the next several months, provided you have complete documentation with your application forms, as set out in the application checklist. An officer will be in contact with you in due course. In the meantime, we would ask for patience during this transition period.

Yes there is a sub activity for that.
but it says nothing.

i think they were removed (erased) intentionally.

no more that i can tell in this part.
as far as i know, this part is almost blank for others too, since it is related to security.

Hmm.. My first two GCMS notes have some info under "SUB ACTIVITIES": the type is filled as "Security Screening" and the status is "Not Started". And I got my third GCMS notes yesterday, and found it added another sub section under "SUB ACTIVITIES", called "SECURITY SCREENING", and the security screening type is "Record Check" and Priority "Normal". However, under "SUB ACTIVITIES" it still says "Not Started"...

Not sure if you know what I meant but it seems that my GCMS notes is different from others.

This email was posted by someone else also on this forum few days ago. I guess V.officers at CPP-O are still on vacation. >:(
No PPRs reported this week so far on this forum........... No action

Its almost the same here my fiiend.

Under sub activity, it says security screening.

But both of them are blank. I mean not blank, just erased.
I cant read them.

:)

You should not be worried.
If it is being checked, you have to wait,
if it is not started as mine, you have to wait a bit more.

But I guess the whole problem is because they are not really working on the files. As soon as someone sits for it, it would go like rocket!

I hope so... But my file is not in Ottawa but New York. At first they processed my file pretty fast right after the transfer (Eligibility, Medical, Criminality all passed in only a few days). But after May there are no more actions. :(

October started well with quite a few PPR in week # 1 since then hardly see any PPR. It seems they send off PPR in a batch and then nothing!!

what do you think "finalizing an application" mean in the CIC terminology? how long does it take?

Well, there is no way one can predict specially with the transfer applicants. Enough applicants havent gotten PPR to make a streamline at this point.

I think it's a date on which an officer has to review the file and move on with the immigration process.

nobody really knows that.... and you won't find much info on the www about that...and they (CIC) won't tell you either. It includes all kind of sources...INTERPOL, CIA, FBI, who knows.... it's all guess work..
