Ok. I submitted my application for WP extension this afternoon. Has anyone in this thread done WP extension? Any idea how long it takes?

I submitted it electronically.

its very fast, it took a week to get WP in mail.

Online applications are faster than paper applications but it depends on work load of processing centre, you know summer is going on so people are in vacation that means it may take longer. You can check processing times at CIC web site, you will know from there how many days it will take for online applications.

Today received letter( emailed Scan copy ) from Ottawa office. they just want to know the current location or address of my brother in law . may be I did some mistake on writing his address in forms .....
It's good to know that someone is working on our files . They gave me 30 days to wrie them back with requested information

I got transferred to Ottawa on May 09 2012 from buffalo .

Next month is ppr month for most of guys here .best of luck everyone

30 days means your next due date is in 30 days. If that is the only thing left and you have provided it, you should hear some news come September.

It seems they are processing April applicants, first hyhen then yourself! Good Luck guys!

The processing time says more than 50 days - they are currently processing May applicants for work permit.

wow thats slow, i applied for my extension on March 28th and got the extension on April 6th.

Ya, it's slow. My WP expires exactly 54 days from today. Good timing.

Even if it get expire before you recieve you extension it doesn't matter becaue you filed the application at least before expirty.


Its summer Guys, that's why all CIC processing centres/ VO's are slow, thats the reason we didn't hear promptly from Ottawa too.. Even CIC website does say about it, they say processing centres/VO's becomes slow in summer and peak times of traveling months.. (sorry i don't have the URL handy ).

Its upto you.. The way I think is, its not costing anything and it keeps you updated about your file. I dont think there is anything to lose and it gives you some peace as well.

Just ordered another GCMS. Hell why not it's free and nothing to lose.

This time I requested info for my spouse as well. Will find out if my file has transferred to other VO or any other progress by the end of Aug.

My file was in Buffalo. It hasn't been transferred to Ottawa yet. At least, the GCMS notes that I got last week didn't say anything about transfer. I don't know where my file is. What I meant was that my application was originally received on May 20, 2011. Sorry for confusion.

Not sure if it helps, but you can call the call center to find out where ur application is rightnow. I finally ran out of patience so I made a call, they said it was in Ottawa now, but they didnt have access to their system. So they couldn't tell me what the status was.

Have you contacted your MP recently regarding your case? I see you are a March applicant and medicals in sept, same as myself! I saw April Applicants whose ECAS was App Received and they contacted their MP to find out their file is in ottawa and their background checks have just been started!
