How long would the background check usually take? In a lot of previous cases, I saw ppl getting PPRs 2-3 months after medicals from Ottawa. That was before Buffalo closing. I can understand the volume is getting higher now, but still, I don't think it takes a whole lot of time if they actually start it. I think a lot of cases are left hanging, especially the 2011 ones. I really do hope all the 2011 applicants get their PPRs soon.

Please all these back and forth stories are confusing...for outland applicants, l think your background
checks should have be done with before MR is issued, or am I WRONG?

Is what l understand from Ecas!!!

When I looked at my GCMS notes I noticed that the medical requests and criminality/RCMP checks were initiated while my file was still in Sydney

@xse2573

thats just what i've heard.

I've heard, that new applications for PR, this year, IN Canada applications, are supposed to be send to Sydney, and they start the "Eligibility", and then transfer it (if passed) to Ottawa. Apparently to sped things up...
I have one colleague at work, she has been told that. (when she received her CSQ)

who knows...

I am not an outland applicant. I've been studying and working in Vancouver for 5 year. The only wrong thing I did was not waiting for another week to send my application to NS. Instead, I sent mine on the last day of Nov 2011 to Buffalo. But it's too late to say anything, who would have known the future. Anyways, mine is still within the 10 month processing time, so let's see what happens.

The fee is the right of permanent residency if I am right and for every single person is 490 CAD. Not sure how it changes for families more than 2.
