Hello all,
I applied from Canada. Send to NS on Sep 18, 2009. Waiting for AOR.
I am currently in a soup. Buffalo seems to be asking for 6 months of bank statements. I do not have bank statements to show 11K dollars was in my bank account for the last 6 months. I do have a statement from the bank for the same sum, which I borrowed, deposited, got a letter from the bank and withdrew the sum.
What should I do? Delay my application or withdraw it?
Its impossible for me to find 11K and keep it in my account for 6 months.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

Hi Raman, I can very well relate to your situation. I am pretty sure atleast 50% of the applicants goes through this problem. I strongly feel that you don't have to maintain $11000 for 6 months. You only need to show $11000 in your last statement. The six month's statement is only to verify the history of transactions to make sure that you didn't borrow money from someone in the past 6 months. May be I would assume you can take a letter from someone saying that this $11000 is gifted to you. And once you get the statement that reflects $11000, you can return the money back to them. I can't think of any other solution for you at this point. Hope this helps.

Thank you.

you can show it as deposit transaction at before time of showing fund proof, lots of people are showing fund making transactions in personal savings accounts, you have to show it and take it the bank statements, send it to buffalo CIO. dont withdraw anymoney untill your application is not move to some status like medical, you must have to show until your application move for another step, return that ammount to your relatives, when you get PR visa, get back that money and take draft or cash when you plan to land at Canada.
it will work, my brother show it from italy, he get PCC and medical. he return back to relatives, he submit medical and PCC, and he is waiting for last step thats for PR Visa. my cousines went to canada 1year ago and they also done same steps which I saw you and even my brother also done it.

Raman, no, that won't help. You will have to have the balance shown in your last statement that you send to Canada and leave it there for atleast 6 - 8 months of sending the full application to the visa office.

Thank you.

Hi all, I understand that many people may have no other way of obtaining this level of "proof of funds", but, I hope you realize:

1) you are violating the rules by borrowing - funds cannot be borrowed. This is why Buffalo is asking for 6 months of statements, plus you will need to show the proof upon arrival.

2) If your family is going to contribute, it should be a gift to keep. If you pay them back later, that is up to you. But unless you keep the money in your account, it will be difficult for the IO to believe it is really a gift.

3) I understand you are already here in Canada (Cat 3?), and to me it is senseless to require "proof of settlement funds" from people who have already settled. I was in the same boat and nonetheless had to withdraw my application. I am now waiting to qualify for the CEC program. So I am not unsympathetic - good luck and let us know how you manage...

yeah jes i am too contemplating of withdrawing the app and wait to apply under CEC. just a big pain in the neck...how am i supposed to keep 11k in canada without spending it? if i really had it, given the real estate situation here i would have put it as a down payment to buy a condo or a house...i think they just are being overwhelmed with applicants from across north america who have recently lost job or in the verge of losing theirs. the only way to weed out them is to ask for 6 months of 11k, which would be impossible for a person to show if he had just lost his job/about to lose...a sane man would not keep that money tied down in tough time.....they are not asking for this 6 months crap from New delhi or islamabad or manila. whatever... i would rather withdraw and hope for the best in a year.

Since, you are already working in Canada, you don't need to show proof of funds:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

You do not have to show that you have these funds if you have arranged employment in Canada.

Alas, as many of us who end up in Category 3 find out, "arranged employment" is not the same as "working in Canada." For arranged employment, the job has to meet a bureaucratic definition of "permanent, full-time." People who are working on a fixed term contract (even if rewnewable) do not qualify. (This would be a LOT of people).

Further, while my job meets the provincial definition of "full-time" in Ontario (at least 30 hours per week), it does not meet the CIC definition (37.5 hours per week). At least, on paper it does not - reality is quite another matter, but I can't get around what my contract says.
