hagh, look for Ottawa or Montreal appointments much quicker than Toronto. I believe, You wouldn't need to defer your interview remember time is very critical in PR application. If buffalo reach its quota then your application will be delayed for a year.

for other who are waiting I have some info to share:

Hi all, Today I visited my local MP's office with my friend who applied under FSW-3 more than 12 months ago. Gentleman in MP's office made a phone call to Buffalo office and was informed buffalo is trying to clear the backlog on priority basis and my friends can expect a MR with in 4 weeks if there is no outstanding issue related to his application.

maybe this will help shed light on priority (found this in another thread)

Under the first set of instructions (MI-1) CIC used this new authority under immigration law to control the type of applications received, but not the number. The number of applications received exceed the ability to process them in a timely way. CIC introduced caps on June 26, 2010 on the FSW program as part of the second MI. CIC has limited the intake of new FSW applications to better match the number CIC can actually process within the annual levels plan tabled in Parliament. The third set of MI, introduced in June 2011, further adjusted the intake of economic class APRs. FSW applications under the third MI are processed on a priority basis.

Further information can be found at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2011/2011-06-24a.asp.

CIC has received enough FSW applications since February 27, 2008 to reach immigration levels for the next two years. Unfortunately, it will take longer to process those submitted under the first set of instructions (between February 27, 2008 and June 25, 2010) than originally projected. This number represents more than twice the number of projected admissions under the program in 2011.

CIC's goal is to make the immigration system more responsive to labour market needs. By giving priority to FSW applications received on or after July 1, 2011, CIC is responding to the most urgent labour market needs first. The length of time it takes to finalize an application under this program varies from one visa office to another since visa offices face different challenges. CIC continues to work towards global service standards and the use of departmental standard forms to minimize such regional variations as much as possible.

I hope that this information is of assistance.

i think even though they give priority to MI-3 applicants, the mere fact that they have reduced the cap to 10,000 total gives the indication that they wanna do something about the previous MI's ... so I'm still hopeful

my guess is once they have cleared up the backlogs, the cap would go back up to 20,000 or even more in coming years

Does Buffalo inform you if there are any documents missing? I have been waiting more than 1 1/2 years for a response from them and nothing so far... I dont even know if anything is missing from my application... they have not send me medical request so far. It is getting frustrating. How will I know if something is missing in my application?

guys my address is back on CIC app status page ... but no other change :(

i was expecting that it would at least show 'Medical Results Received' inside ... but no luck :(

Hi Becksterd,

I am on the same boat and both of us have the same time line. I ordered CAIPS and I am expecting it to be received before end of the month. I will let you know the details once I got it.

Don't worry mate, buffalo normally doesn't update on receipt of medicals. Send a case spec inquiry sometime next week. Normally it take two weeks for results to download in VO system.

thanks @zulkfal ... gives me hope

I ordered CAIPS at the end of April but there was no progress at that time,
and it only showed age points and the BFD date was may 6th.
My file is in process since June 28th
I'd done my medicals in advance, sent a case specific inquiry 2-3 weeks ago but got no reply.
So I don't know if they received it or not.
Do you think it's a good idea to order CAIPS again, like at the end end of July?
I remember someone saying it's better if you wait a couple months before you send a second CAIPS request.
What do you think?

i dont think there is no danger in applying for caips multiple times.. i've ordered caips twice within 3 months.. all they do is pull up ur notes from the system, print it out and send it to u .. and i dont think its the immigration actual case officers who process caips request.. so i cant see why it would be a bad thing to ask for caips notes again ..
thats my 2 cents ..

Hi All Buffalo Applicants,

Pleaseee help me. I am on F-1 visa -OPT(optional practical training)status with employment authorization until feb 2013. My visa expires Nov 2011. Do I need to submit a I-797 with my application? I already sent my application last week but I did not submit this form. Will this effect my application? Someone please reply. I can see that there are a lot of internationals in this thread who already applied for FSW1. Any reply is much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,

you are suppose to send proof that you are staying legally, in case, you have sent copy of expired visa, that proof that you entered in the country legally, but since if that visa is expired, office can't make sure that u are staying legally, in such case, once they accept your application and count your points & they will satrt verifying all your documents, including visa specific. then they will ask you to send proof of staying legally.
Second option is, that , Once you get your file #, you can send same document with covering letter having your file no.

Hi canada_dream100,
We have sent proof of legal status in the form of I-20 which states that I am authorized to work until feb 2013 and my I-94 card which is proof of legal entry (it has entry stamp). Our visas are not expired yet but will expire soon. Where does I-797 fit in here? I understand that it is a notice of petition or application for a non immigrant worker. Do I still need to provide that with my situation?

Thanks for your reply.

I have never been to student visa or I-20; I was trying to convey that one need to provide proof of legal entry and/or stay in the country, which you have already added in the application. So nothing more is required to submit (as of best of my info).
