Hi,
My mother applied for a visitor visa as she wanted to visit my younger brother who is PR of Canada and has became father for the first time . Her application was rejected with 2 reasons
Travel history
Current employment status
My mother is a retired govt official and i am perplexed by this reason. Does Canada does not allow retired persons to visit Canada.

Hi,

Can you please share:
a. The list of documents that your mom submitted

b. Has she traveled earlier (although this it's not necessary to have traveled abroad earlier)

c. Her ties to her home country

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for replying. Following is the list of documents attached with her application
2 year income tax returns
6 month bank statement with 1600 CAD
Fixed deposits 8000 CAD
Property evaluation certificate approx 100000 CAD
CA certificate mentioning above all assests plus 2000 CAD cash in hand...jewellery worth CAD 6000
Retirement orders from Govt job
Pension papers
Covering letter from my mom
Invitation letter from my brother
brother's Canadian driving licence
brother's salary slip last 3
sister in law doctors certificate
brother's PR card
These were the documents attached. She is very heart broken as as a grandmother she wanted to hold the baby and then there is our family tradition where grandmother speaks the name in baby's ear. She would have stayed for approx 2 months.Dont know where this went wrong. Any help will be highly appreciated.

From which country is your mom applying?

Hi

My mother has never travelled before...
Brother's bank statement was also attached CAD15000
Thanks and regards

Hi,

Here are my suggestions:
Financial Situation
6 month bank statement with 1600 CAD
CAD 1600 in the bank account + CAD 2000 as cash is less.... as an unofficial guide, the applicant must show about CAD 1000 per week of visit + airfare + money for other incidentals

You/an immediate family member can provide a Letter of Financial Support.... to help your mom with some of the finances for her visit.... is this is a possibility? Did the Invitation Letter from your brother state that he will take care of your mom's accommodation/travel and living expenses during her visit?

Fixed deposits 8000 CAD
Your mom must also submit Interest Certificates from the banks where she holds the FDs + show the interest is deposited in her bank account (this may not apply to FDs that earn cumulative interest) + a letter from each bank stating the FDs are not locked-in/not mortgaged.... and can be liquidated, if required.

CA certificate mentioning above all assests plus 2000 CAD cash in hand...jewellery worth CAD 6000
Any evaluation by a CA must also have supporting documents

Does your mom also have Gratuity and PPF (which she can withdraw)..... or EPF?
Did she submit proofs that she earns a pension? And any other benefits that she is entitled to?
Does she have any other financial investments? LIC?

You may also want to prepare an Explanation XX: My Financial Situation.... in this you can list all liquid cash + locked-in finances (for example, jewelry will not help to fund any component of her visit)

Her Strong Ties to India
Property Ties
Property evaluation certificate approx 100000 CAD
Does she own the property?
Did you also submit copies of the Sale Agreement + Property Tax receipts + does she live in the property or is it rented out?
You must also submit supporting documents to confirm the market value as assessed by the CA
Does she also own any land? Either sole ownership or joint ownership?

Family Ties
Does your mom live alone or with other immediate family?

Other Ties
Does your mom volunteer or do any social service?
What other ties can your mom show to India?

What did your mom give as Purpose of Visit?

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for suggestions.

The invitation letter from my brother clearly indicated that he will take care of her in every financial aspect during her stay.

The FD's earn cumulative interest and they can be liquidated any time...But a letter from bank stating this was not attached

Pension orders were attached. Bank statement shows she is receiving pension every month. She retired 4 years ago and invested her epf..ppf and gratuity in our house . property papers are in her name as she is the sole owner...sale deed was not attached but valuation report from an authorised valuator was attached along with the CA report . Details of property are mentioned in this valuation report.

She lives in this mentioned property along with my father..myself..my wife...my younger brother and his wife..she was to travel alone to meet her youngest son and daughter in law and no one was travelling with her.

She does not work now and now she is a housewife.

The purpose of visit stated was to meet her son and daughter in law and participate in the name giving ceremony of the new baby as per our family tradition. ..

Regards
