Bridging work permit when current WP valid more than 4 months

Can someone help me on this?What is Bridging Open Work Permit Actually?

I have a valid Closed WP till Dec 2014.Can i apply for this WP by Any chance since I have received my AOR in hand?

A simple google search will give you more info on it. You will be eligible when your current permit is due to expire in 4 months. Although some people including myself has got it though our permit was valid more than 4 months it was our emergency situation of work contract ending soon that forced us to apply for it. If you are not in a similar situation I would advice against applying for BOWP so that CIC doesn't start to scrutinize applications of ppl who are in desperate need of BOWP.

How did you know, that they would extend it, if there is no decision by one year. Have they mentioned it?

The open WP is to be valid for the duration of one year from the date of issuance. Although the PR application should normally be finalized within a year, subsequent requests from applicants to extend their stay on an open WP will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Dear All,

I got my AOR and planning to apply for BOW as my employer contract with Canadian company is going to end by September.
I am in crisis situation even though my current WP is valid till end of 2014.

I was wondering do I need to update my PR application if I got new job with new employer, I see so looking at instruction in AOR , but I was concerned if I get new job and if my NOC is changed, is that going to effect my PR application.

Desperately looking for suggestion, thanks a lot

They wouldn't tell you to update CIC if a) it would jeopardize your app b) if they actually expected you not to.
You are assessed on your application as submitted at the time - even if your role/noc changes - they don't reassess
Just follow the rules and you'll be fine

My contract ending on 30th Sep and I have closed WP till Feb 2015 and I applied for BOWP on 1st Sept, fingers crossed

I came to CA in closed WP as intra-company transfer and it’s been more than a year.

I have applied for PR under CEC and received my AOR in Mar 2014.

My current WP (closed) is valid until Aug 2015, which by law makes in-eligible for BOWP.

I have seen few success stories in this forum who have made through BOWP with WP valid for more than 4 months.

My current contract with the client is ending by end of Aug 2014. This contract MAY/MAY not get extended for another year.

In case if it extends I’m good to be here until I receive my PR. If not, I will have to move to my home country. So to be on a safer side - I'm planning to give a try on applying BOWP so that I can try to get a new job if my contract doesn’t extend.

My concern is - In case if I'm lucky enough to get my BOWP by Aug end and if my contract with the client extends, Am I good to continue in same job? or since my WP changes to BOWP will there be any effects on my current employment?

Great news knnn! I may be in a similar position in a few months and it's good to know to at least try for BOWP.
