You have to have a valid work visa and a submitted PR application in order to apply for BOWP. Since you have a visitor status unfortunately you won't be eligible.

Anyone who applied for their BOWP right after receiving their AOR? I applied for my BOWP (last week) two days after receiving my AOR. Hoping to get it before Feb. 01 because my sister is getting married and I would like to attend the wedding.

You should be fine. My application was approved in 22 days, but I applied one month after AOR though

Hopefully, it's as speedy as yours but I submitted my docs. and profile on December 29, 2016. Did you apply for visa as well? I will need visa to travel and come back to Canada.

I applied for BOWP a week after AOR. Received WP after 6 weeks.
You will need a TRV to re-enter Canada if you leave (assuming your previous TRV has expired). I wasn't sure about this because my BOWP had the remark "Temp Resident status maintained" but I called CIC yesterday and they confirmed I have to apply for a new TRV which I did yesterday morning. Processing time for that inside Canada is 12 days - not bad.

Hope that helps.

How long should we expect the AOR after submitting all files ? My permit will expire in March 14 and I wont be able to send in my application until end of Jan due to Police certificate. In case I dont make it, what are my options ? Thanks

As long as you submit before your permit expires (even one day) you'll be fine because then you'll be under implied status until a decision is made on either your WP or PR. The e-AOR usually arrives the same day you submit your PR application online but the WP application will be on hold until they review your eligibility for PR.

I read elsewhere that upon submiting my PR application, what I got is a Notice of Receipt, not AOR. AOR usually takes weeks or months. Would that effect me even if I submit my PR applicaiton prior to my permit expiring and didnt get AOR by March 14 ?

I am afraid that I am going to miss my sister's wedding on Feb. 06 then :(
Even if I get my work-permit I won't have TRV so I guess I can't go.

Thank you @Zimprincess for sharing your timeline.

It has been like that before, but new rules apply... First AOR what you get right after submission is sufficient to apply for BOWP. CIC doesn't send second AOR letter anymore in most cases.

"When you submit your application, you must provide all supporting documents listed in your document checklist. You must also include a copy of your Acknowledgment of Receipt letter.

If you applied for permanent residence online through Express Entry, this letter is automatically sent to your account when we get your application."

Try to get as much done as soon as possible. That's the best you can do. Submit your application for BOWP since you have your AOR and then wait to see. You never know, your application may not take as long as mine. Apply for Visitor visa at same time.
Good luck!

There's no second AOR, I use first AOR that automatically sent to me when I submitted my application online in EE. BWOP approved.
