Try to get as much done as soon as possible. That's the best you can do. Submit your application for BOWP since you have your AOR and then wait to see. You never know, your application may not take as long as mine. Apply for Visitor visa at same time.
Good luck!
I have already applied for BOWP - submitted it on 3rd Jan. 2017. Can I apply for visitor visa as well? Wouldn't it contradict with my temporary worker status once I get my BOWP?

it's visitor record, not visitor visa, two different things,
and Nope
it won't.
I did the same.
I applied online for BOWP right after getting my AOR
then applied visitor record online 15 days later, which is the last day of my old work permit
I got my bowp in a month and I applied withdraw of VR application online, now I got my VR withdrawal.

Hello!

I'm the principal applicant but my wife won't be able to complete her medical exam due to her pregnancy. I'm thinking can I still apply for BOWP if I already have AOR??

I hope I can get a BOWP before my work permit expires

Will my BOWP be rejected due to the incomplete medical exam results from my wife?

Medical exam is not a requirement for BOWP. Only the principal applicant can apply for BOWP anyway, and the spouse applies for Spousal Open Work Permit. She can apply without medical exam but she might get a restricted open work permit, which means she can not work in healthcare or with children. (school, kindergarten, etc...)

Oh that's good news!

but I thought that BOWP is dependent on the R10 completeness check and the R10 completeness needs the medical exam results of both the principal applicant and the spouse?

Oh I see what you mean. If your R10 completeness won't be done because of her missing medicals you won't get BOWP either. Did you apply for PR without her medicals?

I just made a quick research. Your PR application might be put on hold until she will be able to do medicals. In my understanding you can apply for BOWP too, since that application is put on hold until R10 completeness is done... Please anyone, correct me if I was wrong

Yea...it seems kind of conflicting. This is the reason why I'm hoping that incomplete medical won't affect my BOWP application:

From the CIC website about BOWP

"If a medical examination has not been previously conducted or its result has expired, the office must impose the following conditions:

not authorized to work in childcare, primary or secondary school teaching, or health services field occupations;
not authorized to work in agricultural occupations (designated countries only)."

So I'm thinking CIC would issue me a BOWP while waiting for the medical results of my wife...

Hi guys,

Just a quick confirmation. Once you submitted your PR application, you will get your e-AOR in the same day and you can use that e-AOR to apply for BOWP. is that correct ?

Thanks

That medical is about BOWP... The thing is, they won't issue BOWP until R10 is done, however, they will put the application on hold and you will have implied status.

Don't forget, for her it's not BOWP. Only principal applicant gets BOWP. Spouse applies for spousal open work permit connected to your BOWP application. Google C41 exemption special spousal situations part. You can find there all the eligibility part that applies to her

Actually, my wife won't be applying for a work permit, she just needs to extend her status as a visitor. But I am curious...I read some posts here that the spouse can apply for open work permit together with the BOWP application of the principal applicant (under CEC)...but how does that work exactly? Is there a way of submitting our work permit application online together as one package? Or does my wife apply separately and she just needs to reference our PR application and my BOWP application in her package?

It seems I will not know for sure whether they will grant me a BOWP or not until I apply....I'm hoping they do since my medicals will be complete only my wife's medicals will be on-hold...

Hey Guys,

What should we be answering to the Medical question in the questionnaire?

Have you had a medical exam performed by an IRCC doctor within the last 12 months? Should I be answering Yes or No?

Thanks,
Specterz

It's easy. Have you had an immigration medical examination or not? If you had, you should remember... :)
