A important thing to note for all the new applicants is to go thru each and every aspect of their documents before submission as a slight mistake would cost very dearly with a negative aspect.
Hence though the quota is reduced to half just do not send anything in a hurry as a slight mistake will render everything back to the pavillion. :o

Agreed

Our application under 3112 reached CIC on 14th of June 2011 and the Cap got reached and was updated on 15th of June. I wonder what would be the status of our application ?

If cap got reached before us would they consider us automatically for this new Cap of 500 or we have to wait to get our documents back and then resend them.

Please guide us!

This is a 50-50 case like the indian biscuit KRACKJACK sweet but salty.

500 caps per NOC means door has technically been narrowed to a this tiny, this tiny space for Canadian Immigration aspirants.

100'000 of 1000's IT, Teachers, Engineers were waiting for their professions to make it to the new list. bad luck for them.

Hello everyone
Our documents arrived at the CIO on June 17th. The day after the cap was reached. How long will it take to have them back? I also underwent three years residency in diagnostic imaging - partial. Should I consider these years as work experience, formal education or both?
thanks.

Any of the NOCs you mentioned can still immigrate to Canada as Federal Skilled Workers, and without even needing to worry about caps.

They just need to secure a job offer, either working in Canada under a TWP with LMO, or with an AEO.

Is it better to wait and see what the new regulations are at 7/1/11 before filing? It would seem that would be the prudent thing to do. However, I am applying under Registered Nurse and that fills quickly. Any help would be great.

PS- When is the application considered received? Date of post here in US or when the CIO receives it?

Well, who knows what did CIC had in mind when they said that "details on application requirements and procedures for affected programs" will be announced on July 1st.

I would wait!

I agree. Who knows what they will change. My luck is that I will send in my app, they get it on July 2 and it gets returned a week later since there is a change that was not adressed in my application. Thanks.

But this is not so easy. The Canadian employers prefer canadian experience and also majority of them are not willing to sponsor/hire you if you do not have PR status/some kind of residential status. Unless your occupation is huge demand and they are unable to find locally any workers.

My NOC is not in 29 occupation list. Does this mean my application won't get priority even after reduction in no. of applications for the year 2011-12?

I am worried as I was expecting my NOC to come in the list as there are enough job opportunities.

If you check out the posts of Queencougar on the post-June-26 thread, her husband did exactly that. He is in IT, spent a few weeks telephoning companies to pre-book some interviews, went over to Canada for a 2 week holiday and secured a job whilst he was out there. The company were most supportive about getting his LMO, and they have now got him a renewed LMO for 2 years (since their PR application has not been finalised yet).

Of course, FSW1 makes things easier - since you are not tied to any one company whilst your application is in process and you get all the hassle of the residency application out of the way whilst in your own country. But you do have significant settlement funds to find, and there are a limited number of applications per NOC even if you are eligibile (that number has been halved to 500 this year), so FSW1 isn't a bed of roses either.

Currently our house is under a fixed rate mortgage which expires on 1st August 2011 (about 5 weeks from now) - so we were not in a position to emmigrate until after this date. Prior to June 2010 we were all prepared to have to go down the FSW2 route, and I would have been doing a similar thing to Queencougar's husband. However, last year my wife's industrial pharmacy occupation made the in-demand list so we took the opportunity to go with FSW1.

But had this not been the case I would certainly not be deterred because FSW2 is definitely possible - it just takes some hard work, motivation, and I guess a little bit of luck :)
