That's just human nature. People overreact to begin with and then there are s**t-disturbers who like to rile people up with half-truths. Just look at media and politics.

A lot of people are resistance to change, especially if it affects themselves. People who complained about the new law are the ones who wants to maintain status quo. IMO, these people who don't like this new rules are those who want to collect PRE-PR days, ISIS sympathizers, potential spy converts, and those who believe paying taxes gives them citizenship rights.

The citizenship law was long overdue for a revision. C-24 is a better change. More improvements was needed (still easy to qualify) but it is a lot better than the old citizenship rules.

It is no different from the senators who wants to maintain their status quo no matter how much reform is seriously needed.

Don't worry people, you will get the passport from the country you don't want to live in.

LOL!

Hi All

We took Oath today @ Richmond Hill
There was a Blue form distributed/to be signed BEFORE the ceremony. But it pertained completely to criminal activities. Nothing related to Intent to Reside after citizenship

Congrats , :)

Thanks for confirming this and hopefully this puts an end to the false rumors.

So what's the big deal about intending to reside in Canada for god sake??

As per Merriam-Webster dictionary, intend is defined as follows:

intend
verb in·tend \in-ˈtend\
: to plan or want to do (something) : to have (something) in your mind as a purpose or goal

: to plan for or want (someone or something) to do or be something

: to want (something that you control, provide, or have made) to be used for a particular purpose or by a particular person

So you are intending to reside now but in few months or years plans change and you move, there is no where mentioned that you are required to reside in Canada. People who leave immediately as soon as they get their citizenship and passport are the ones who should be worried if they want to worry.
