hi everyone. I'm a newbie here. my boyfriend and I started talking late 2018 were just friends and we became gf/bf when he visited Philippines last yr and now he wants me to visit Canada. he will sponsor my flight and I'll stay in his place. I've talked to many consultants but got me confused. they told me that immediately family ONLY can apply for a visitor visa. other says yes, i can apply and i need to provide pictures, msgs and bank certificate with 7,500CAD. why should i need bank certificate if he will shoulder all my expenses? other says i need 12,800CAD. i only have 2,500CAD. should i borrow money? and also, i should have stamps in my passport but i only have 1stamp when i went to malaysia last yr so I'm planning to visit japan this year just for a stamp. lol I'm working in a vocational school for 7yrs now. i can submit my COE and ITR. i wanted to stay for 3weeks they said that since it's my first time i should only stay for 1 or 2weeks. does anyone here has the experience to be invited by their boyfriend in canada? is your visa approved? please help I'm confused and don't know what to do -.-

I'm not sure what your consultants are telling you and what you're asking them, especially with figures as high as $12800 being tossed about - that number is usually related to proof of funds for permanent residence and you have said you're only applying for a visitors visa?

In essence, yes, you can apply for a visitor visa with a. Letter of invitation from your boyfriend. With your profile, it will be hard to get. IRCC will assume that you're coming to Canada to get married and claim for permanent residence.

While your boyfriend can provide you an invitation letter and offer to pay your expenses, that will not support your application, because you need to prove you can afford the trip on your own. The Canadian government has no way of enforcing a promise to pay your expenses by your boyfriend. Additionally, having someone in Canada willing to pay your expenses gives you a reason to stay in Canada and not return home.

You need to provide proof of commitments and obligations back home that mean you have to leave Canada at the end of your visit, proof of finances to cover your expenses, and other proof that will counter a visa officer's belief that you are only travelling to Canada to get married and not leave.

Quoted for emphasis.

Just to expound on the already very good assessment above:

because you need to prove you can afford the trip on your own.
This. 2,500 CAD is the cost of the airfare alone.

Malaysia and Japan won't count for stamps. They want to see short travel to visa-required countries outside of Asia (since you live in Asia) like the US, Australia, UK, Europe.

Also, applying through a consultant won't improve your chances at all with your profile, so please don't. ...As evidenced from the original post, your consultants are giving you sweet talk so you can avail of their services. From my observations with refusals here, in my opinion, it's almost 100% sure your visa will be refused on your current profile.

Getting you to Canada would be more of a long-term project. Either get a better job and more savings, or you and your BF get married in the Philippines and he will sponsor you for permanent residence.

is 7,800CAD bank statement enough if I'll tell them I'm gonna stay for 1 week? we can't get married soon i haven't met his family that's why he's inviting me

IMO not enough, especially when considered with your overall profile.

It’s not so much about your budget for the trip as much as what the visa officer perceives as your quality of life in the Philippines.

No, that's not enough. There is nothing to stop you from resigning that job and working illegally in Canada. It's not a big tie to your home country.
IRCC is also taking into account the possibility that you may be abandoned by your boyfriend and need to fund yourself until you return home, hence the financial requirement.

Yes - if you get married you can apply for PR. It will take around a year to process.

TRV will likely still be refused - even after marriage.

If you are genuinely interested in getting married, your new spouse could sponsor you for Permanent Residency. However, it's a serious commitment by the sponsor and IRCC will need to be convinced that the marriage is genuine and not to gain immigration status.

We’ve been telling you the general tendencies when it comes to similar profiles as yours...specially with a partner in Canada.

A Canadian TRV is one of the harder ones to get in my observation, even harder than a US tourist visa. Since it’s mostly based on documents. What usually works is “show, not tell”, that’s why we advise people to have good jobs, good bank accounts, and good travel history to visa-required countries.

Now, if you’re willing to take the hit ($185 + refusal in your records), you can certainly try to apply the one time...be honest about your partner and explain in the letter you have no intention to migrate to Canada, that it’s just a way to try to strengthen the relationship. There are sometimes officers with sympathetic hearts who would still approve similar cases. Not saying it will work for sure...it is a very small chance if you’re willing to take it.

If you do do that and get refused, you shouldn’t apply again until a significant change occurs.

edited to add: you may want to read this other recent thread: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/inviting-my-russian-girlfriend-to-canada.672233/#post-8414929

It’s a good thing you asked questions first before applying. You really have to prepare well for a TRV application.

Just to add. In case you guys decided to stay together and get married you still must prove that relationship is true and genuine. You just have to build a solid profile just like our consultant keep mentioning here.
Me and wife are both Filipino. My wife came to Canada first and petition me eventually. We kept all receipts from restaurant, hotel reservations, vacation picture with family and friend, social media conversation and pretty everything that we can think of are attached to our application to satisfy the officer that we are really together. Three weeks later decision has been made and I received my visa after we submit our application.
Best of luck to both of you.
