You answer YES to “approved in principle”
It is confusing, but that relates to your AOR
Thank you @EscoBlades,
Looks like they need to polish up that Questionnaire or add few more questions to it to determine the situation of the applicant.
Unless by that question they are implying "approved in principle for Permanent Residence" is for both Recipients of AOR and Family Class applicants.

So from the application form imm5710e itself, how do I answer these questions below.

Which one should I choose between these two options below ? ( I have no plans of changing my current employment )
Apply for Work Permit with the same employer ?
or
Apply for a Work Permit for the first time or a new employer ?

Under heading Details of Intended work in Canada
Do in need to answer the question,
Details of Prospective Employer ( attach original offer of employment ) ? and answer all the questions underneath the heading like employment Location, title, duties, duration, etc. ( questions 2-7).?

Thanks.

Looks like if I answer the first question regarding "approved in principle for Permanent Residence" as NO, and Do you have a written job offer as either YES or NO, the questionnaire doesn't give me the BOWP option at all. It asks me to apply for regular work permit. The only time it lists the BOWP option is when I answer the "approved in principle" question as YES. I am currently on a closed WP, employer linked and expires in a couple of months.

Wonder how other members answered these questions. Below is the questionnaire.

Thanks.
If that is the case, then you can answer yes, however, for BOWP, you only have to meet the R10 requirement and AoR is not an approval in principle.

Thank you for your inputs @legalfalcon @EscoBlades
I've submitted the application last night. So far, I have received a receipt/acknowledgement letter in my account.
Lets see what happens. fingers crossed. Looking at the current trends it should take a month or two I hope.

I also happen to find this operational manual which has outlined lots of other details regarding BOWP.

You literally get a checklist when you apply. Submit what they ask you for specifically.

Hi Guys,
Applied BOWP: May 4th
Received EXT: May 5th
Approved: May 12th
Waiting the actual document arrives by mail. It says up to 6 weeks, but assuming it won’t take that much.
This is way quicker than I expected! Hope it helps.

All those documents you listed in your question. Work permit is not needed. It's not in the checklist. But in the application 5710 there is a question where it asks you to enter your current work permit or visa document number. You can enter there. And, don't forget to attach your AoR letter in client information.

In the spirits of sharing:
Applied: May 3
EXT letter: May 4
Approved: May 13
This was the timeline I was expecting with mine, given how many others in this thread got theirs within a week. I guess mine is taking a little longer.

Does one of the following apply to you?

  • I am subject of a removal order that is unenforceable
  • I applied for a study or work permit before entering Canada which was approved, but not issued at a port of entry; or
  • I am in primary or secondary school, or a visiting or exchange student, in Canada with visitor status.
  • I am applying for an open work permit under an active public policy or pilot program announced by IRCC.
  • I am a student who has completed a program of study that is a prerequisite to my enrolment at a designated learning institution with visitor status in Canada; or
  • I applied for permanent residence and was found eligible (first stage approval) under one of the following classes:
    • Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada
    • Humanitarian and Compassionate cases
    • Protected Persons in Canada
    • Live-in Caregiver in Canada
Do I select yes or no?

Mine too..... It is so unfair those differences in waiting times
We'll get ours soon. We applied on the same day, will keep you posted on my progress, if any.

Edit: you passed all your stages on your PR application right? There is a chance that your BOWP might not get processed prior to your COPR being issued.
