Hi everyone,
My work permit will expire on the 7 of May 2015.I got AINP certificate,I got the file number from CIC.Last week I applied online for a BOWP.My question is : Can I apply for it on the border? As I read in this thread that Liisa got her closed work permit on the US border.
And , what are the chances of approval?
Thanks a lot.

Why would you go to the border if you already applied? You'll get your BOWP way before your current permit expires, so you're fine!

hi tarik.
i heard same one family convert his visitor visa into closed work permit
from border. yes u can and save time of processing. i would suggest
ask some seniors who knows about it

For your information CIC is the one approving for the BOWP and not the AINP.
You can call this number to make your self cleared, ok.
1 (888) 242-2100
This is CIC number, call them as soon as you can and ask about if the employer-driven AINP nominees can apply for BOWP. He wilk ask you what are the restrictions of your AINP nomination. It is stated in your AINP certificate the restriction, it is on the upper right highlighted box.
Remember, there are different stream in AINP where you can obtain your nomination.
Further, please read and understand the link below.

I know that I don't have to stoop down on your level Boogey T because by just reading through the construction of your explanation there are loopholes but your likeness needs to be taken lightly. If you understand what I mean
For your information I checked a lot of new AINP certificates because I am the one applying it to CIC (my side line from a consultant friend's table) because I am on an open work permit myself.
That's why I can tell and confident about what I feed in this thread for free.

I ALSO CHECKED NEW AINP NOMINATION N IT SAYS EMPLOYMENT RESTRICTIONS - NO. N MY NOMINATION HADNT HAVE THAT THING WRITTEN ON IT.
N FOR YOUR INFORMATION MY FRIEND GOT REJECTED FOR BOWP AND HE FAX REJECTED LETTER TO AINP AND AINP ISSUES NEW VERSION OF AINP NOMINATION WHICH SAYS NO EMPLOYMENT RESTRICTION N HE BELONGS TO EDS. NOW HE WILL GET BOWP WITH THAT NEW VERSION AINP. NOW YOU GOT IT OR STILL LOOKING FOR LOOPHOLES :P
THE THING IS IF ANYBODY WANTS BOWP JUST GET LATEST VERSION OF AINP NOMINATION WHICH SAYS NO EMPLOYMENT RESTRICTIONS

Plus the Aor.

Remember that, is not only about the certificate. You NEED to have the Aor. If not, you have to apply for a closed one.

yeah with aor

I applied for BOWP with BC PNP letter on 08-Dec. Got rejection on 23-Jan stating that the conditions are not met. Highlights a bunch of them...seems like a standard format, but the obvious one is employer name on the certificiate.

Went to Peace Arch border and told the officer about our old application. They said they knew of many similar cases and gave new Closed WP for me and Open WP for my spouse.

So yes...no more BOWP with employer name on it.

Do you have to pay if if you do it on the border?

Yes...155$ per person. Be sure to cross over to the US side and then come back to complete the flagpole with the yellow slip.

Thanks !! Do you have to submit the application form, nomination certificate, job letter, etc?? I mean, how do they know your situation, that you applied for pr, etc????

Because if this is faster, I'm more than willing to take a little trip to montana

No application forms or photos required. Rather keep it simple and slim. I think they can trace from your UCI no. what stage your PR application is in.

Here's what I took and handed over.
1. PNP nomination letter
2. Work Permit support letter
3. Paystubs to prove your current employment (Precautionary Document)
4. A simple letter from your employer stating that you are currently employed (Precautionary Document)
5. Bank statements showing sufficent balance in your account (Precautionary Document)
6. Original Offer Letter from employer...they do read this one.

Questions from CBSA officer:
1. Does your offer have an end date? Nope..
2. Have you tried applying to CIC website? I told yes, and that they rejected due to employer name on PNP letter..and that it was not clear on CIC site. She said she has heard of such cases...and its fine.
3 .Why are you applying so early? My employer needs assurance for his planning purpose.
4. We can only give 1 year extension, are you OK with it? Obviously!

I also got a OWP for my spouse. They ask you to sit for 20mins till they feed it into the system and print out. So if the Q&A goes fine, you are pretty much in the clear.
