BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

I am new to this forum. I wanted to ask - my current work permit expires 20th June 2013, and I shall be submitting the documents under CEC category
one month prior. Is it a realistic deadline to receive AOR, and submit application for BWOP before 20th June? If not, can you suggest alternative options on how to handle this scenario?

Average time of a AOR coming through is about 40 days after application is submitted. Thats if they dont send it back after 30 days saying its incomplete!

Im in the same boat - but had submitted my application exactly 40 days before my current WP expired. It is likely my AOR will not be recieved in time, so I spoke to CIC about this and they said I can still submit my application for an OWP before my WP expires, with an explanatory letter. When I recieve my AOR, I then link it to my OWP application.

As soon as you submit an application for an OWP before the expiry of your current WP, you will go on "implied status" when it does expire, until they make a decision on the new OWP. When on implied status you retain the same conditions as your expired WP, however you cannot leave the country or you will forfeit these rights.

Do you think I can apply even if I don't have my AOR or even case number yet as my visa runs out the same day I can apply for BOWP so I was just wondering if maybe I could apply sooner but if I do I wont have a case number? Do you think if i write a letter to state this it might be ok?

Here's my story -
I currently have a closed work permit expiring in march 2014. My current employer is ending my contract in June 2013. Hence, I had to apply for open work permit in order to get new job(without lmo). I had written a detailed letter explaining this.

So, even though the bulletin says current work permit should be expiring in 4 months, cic may take some exceptions !

Hi there,

I applied for BOWP 3days before my work permit expired by mail on Feb 1st . I have explained in a letter to them that I will send my AOR as soon as I received it. So, I did attach my AOR and send it again. I haven't heard anything back from them. It has been almost 2 and a half months since I submitted for my application.
Could anyone help share some information why this could happen. Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.

I didn't provide any documentary proof that my contract is ending. I had just mentioned that my contract is ending soon and that prospective employers are not willing to apply for LMO and that the only way to get a job is through open work permit. I had also written that although my current work permit is expiring next year, without a job with my current employer, work permit only allows me to stay in Canada without working.

I dont know whether the officer bought my argument, but open work permit was issued. I had to take chances ( I did ask the call centre to ask whether BOWP rejection will affect my PR application - they said absolutely not) and applied - I had no other choice.
