BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Hi all,

just want to share my experience... I have applied for PR in CEC and received medical request. I have my current WP expiring Dec 2014.
I applied for BOWP explaining my personal situation and also provided a copy of AOR. But it got rejected saying below 2 reasons.

You have not provided evidence that you have received a positive eligibility decision on your PR
application.
You do not have a work permit that was due to expire within 4 months of the date you submitted
your application.

What was the reason for you to apply for BOWP?

By the way it's a requirement for BOWP having your actual WP expiry date within 4 month.

People have reported that they were able to get a BOWP despite the four-month rule, perhaps by writing a convincing enough cover letter, but it seems that OB485A has slammed the door shut on that (or all of the new people were unlucky).

I applied online on the 23rd Jan, no update since then. Hopfully next week.

Just checked MyCIC, the status has been changed to approved.

Applied on: 23 Jan, 2014
Approved: 11 Feb, 2014
Total: 19 Days including weekends.

Going to check my mailbox once i am off work. ;D

Hi:

I need you experts suggestion in my case.

My wife I have valid work permit until 30-July-2014. I would like to apply for BOWP for both of us together.

1. As per rule, I understood only principle applicant is eligible to apply for BWOP. What is the probability to get work permit for both of us?

2. I am planning to leave to India by 20-March-2014 and leave my wife in India for couple of months. I want to apply for BWOP before leaving from Canada which is 10days earlier than eligible date (as per rule I am eligible to apply after 01-April-2014 which is with in 4months of valid work permit). I feel as the processing time is 15 days, it would be ok. what's your suggestion?

3. If I apply for both of us and leave Canada before getting work permit, will it be issue?

Is there a way to check the file transfer after you receive AOR. Please share the link. I received AOR on 10th Jan 2014 and ecas still shows "Application Received". Do you know any time line for updating on the ecase about the file transfer.

My Time lines
Applied for PR-CEC - 20 Dec. 2013
Applied for BOWP (Without AOR) - 30 Dec. 2013
WP Expired on - 7 Jan. 2014


I got BOWP rejection mail at 3:30 PM EST today beacuse of no AOR and Got AOR approval mail around 4:40 PM.
Please help !!!! I am in big mess now.

Is there a way to check the file transfer after you receive AOR. Please share the link. I received AOR on 10th Jan 2014 and ecas still shows "Application Received". Do you know any time line for updating on the ecase about the file transfer.

To check the status I just use this online tool by CIC: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp

About the file transfer I think I was wrong. They mentioned in the AOR that they'll transfer it, but I haven't received any update yet.
My status online says: "Application Received".
I was discovering few forums and looks like most probably we'll have no update about the file transfer.
But myabe I'm wrong...

Correct, you won't be notified when your file reaches the Ottawa office. There's not update whatsoever.
You can find the date in your GCMS notes tho.

Hi,

I have a few questions on the BWOP as I am in the process of applying for one

* My current permit is the open work permit through the PGWP; What should i select on what I am applying for? A work permit with the same employer or an initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer?

* My TRV on the passport is also valid until that date - should check the Temporary resident permit as well?

* On the online application - I don't see a spot to upload the email confirmation for the AOR - should I include it in the cover letter?

* My wife's open work permit is tied to mine - I assume I fill the same form for her and submit with the relevant details on the cover letter?

hi guys.

A gud news... we ( me and my wife) got our BOWP today afternoon..

CEC applied: Nov 25th 2013
Visa expiring:Jan 5th 2014
BOWP applied: Jan 3rd 2014 without AOR (paper based application)
CC charged: Jan 8th 2014
AOR received:Jan 10th 2014
Finally BOWP received : Feb 14th 2014..

Thanks for this forum and support guys.. It was the time were we lost all the hopes and was just thinking what to do and just found this forum which helped us a lotttttt...Thanks a ton!!

looks from the previous posts that 4 months has become a hard and fast rule..what in case a temporary worker gets laid of say somewhere in june july? even though he has a closed work permit and trv until 2015 jan? can one apply for bowp explaining the case? if yes what are the chances of approval?
