I heard, there is another way to get info from embassy in Bogota about you sponsorship case, if you are

1) a canadian citizen
2) in Bogota
3) has time to try it until works

-go to the embassy early morning
-show your canadian passport
-tell them, that you want to speak to someone about taxation situation if you are living abroad
-once you are inside, take a number
-when called, explain to them, that you have a spousal sponsorship process, but it is taking to long, and you want to relocate where your spouse is, and what would be the taxation implication on your income, etc....
-with some luck, eventually, you might be able to speak an immigration officer about the status of your case
-maybe you need to go there a couple of times, until you find a right person

Don't know if i'd try that...risk pissing someone off and delaying your application???

should work as long as you are: polite+pleasant+respectful+diplomatic+well-mannered+etc....
if not, you can make things worse

Yes you do need the consent form since the applicant is not in canada or canadian, even though its the person you're sponsoring

Re: Kidnapping

they just want to milk the mining company to pay some money for their employees release
foreigner workers for mineral/oil mining companies are visible and easy targets
they will be released unharmed, when, -- after some negotiation -- the money start flowing

here are the 6 most dangerous cities worldwide in 2012

If I were you, I would not worry to much about getting that report.....you do not need it and it would no tell you too much !
Looks like you have started in May 2012, and already received and submitted the medicals.....so all is going well.
Next they will ask you for a BACKGROUND VERIFICATION.....read about it on this forum, what / how to do it !
Meanwhile, just sit back and relax and enjoy the process !

Who in the world enjoys this process? just a thought!

Already got asked for my background verification, and also ARC and that's all done. When would they notify me if they need an interview? At the beginning end or just whenever they feel like?

your case is going very fast.....nothing to worry about...remember, 17 months is a listed processing time
here is the correct address to check your status: (take out the -xxxxx both ends)

xxxxx-https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do?app=ecas-xxxxx

I do not understand your question "beginning end " ?

they only ask for an interview, if they are not satisfied that your marriage is GENUINE

do you sponsor your spouse?
does he/she has children ? or previously married ?
