Finally got an AOR from Bogota today. Hopefully that follows quickly by a request to make the payment for the police checks!

finally! good for you! we only waited 3 weeks for the request after we got our AOR, so hopefully it won't be long for you either. from what i can remember the letter with the barcode stickers just came by reg post...but i guess it might depend on where you are living in colombia...the post isn't efficient or reliable...hmm kinda like the embassy?? lol

Thats good to hear. We're living in Sincelejo, and mail service here isn't too bad. 4/72 is actually pretty good these days. We get stuff from Canada all the time. But if it comes by courier, even better!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hey everyone,

I'm sponsoring my husband, I sent the application on July 19th and by Aug 30th i had received a letter saying that i was approved as a sponsor and the application had been sent to Bogota. (is there anywhere we can check the process of the app?) i think the next step is wait and see if he gets called for an interview?) When we sent the application, we sent his police records from Colombia, med exams and everything was notarized. i know its been only two months since the letter from Mississauga but i am going crazy already. He has lived in Canada before and in the US (he was a minor) Does he need police records from there? Will they ask for them?

thankssss

Welcome! Good to hear that you were approved for stage 1. Processing in Bogota can take up to 16 months, however typical processing times for "standard" applications is about 10 months, so be prepared for a long wait! You likely won't hear anything from Bogota for 3-4 months. It took us just over 4 months to get an AOR from Bogota.

You can check the status of your application on eCas (Electronic Client Application Status). Here is the link.

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en

You need police certificates from each country your husband has resided in for more than 6 months, AFTER age 18, so he will likely not require ones from Canada or the US if he was under 18 while living there. Here is the link with that information

GOOD NEWS :) I am holding our long awaited PR VISA in my hands!!!!! Yay! This means that some of you should have yours soon too!

This is great news. Very happy for you.

Based on your timeline, and the mess up by the embassy with our marriage certificate, we should be hearing something within the next couple of weeks. If they request another medical (which I think they will) then this will add another 4-6 weeks.

That's great! Didn't know he was there yet! Congrats to both of you! Yes things are slowly starting to move for us, and barring complications, we're expecting to be back north sometime between feb and apr! Hope you have lots of warm clothes for him!

When he lived in Canada, was he with a Student-Visa? or was he under his parents' application of Refugee?

I asked because if he was deported, even though he was a minor and under his parents' consent (not his), he would have to apply for an ARC...

If he does, that would increase his wait time...

I had to apply, I was a minor and under my parents' application of Political Asylum...
I started this long journey on May 2012...

Good luck.
