I have a birth certificate written in Arabic, and translating it from Arabic to English is very expensive at the city I live.
Therefore is it compulsory to submit the Birth Certificate, isn't my passport enough to identify my name, birth date and birth place?

Your comments are highly appreciated.

Thanks

Depending on how "difficult" it is to get a Birth Certificate, CIC may sometimes accept an affidavit in lieu of a Birth Certificate. For example, if registration of a birth was not "mandatory" by law at the time of your birth, CIC may accept other proof of date of birth. However, if it was "mandatory" in your country to register births, CIC would only accept original birth certificates.

When you say you have a birth certificate written in Arabic, does it mean that it is only in Arabic? In most cases, information is filled in both local language as well as in English. If this is the case, there is no need of translating as the original itself contains information in English. If not, think, is it really advisable to save a few dollars now but risk face unnecessary delays?

If the checklist document require you to provide birth certificate, I believe that a copy of your birth certificate is all you need. However if there are no English/French on it, you must provide original notarized translation document with it. I know it can be expensive, but it is not worth the delay in your PR process if you do not submit it with application. It may even send back the application on account that the application is not completed in full with notarized translated documents.

You will have to do the same to your education diplomas if you want to include your education credential as credit for employment and/or to attend University/college in Canada. You will still need to translate it if there are no English/French on it.
