I don't have my birth certificate available but I saw on the Indian Consulate website that they can issue it based on the passport. Will it be good for the Canadian immigration requirement?Has anyone done this before?

Ok thanks ..getting it from the embassy is much easier than getting affidavits from India.

a birth certificate is a birth certificate. i think it should be fine as long as it is legal and since an authorised person is issuing it, it will be fine.

Did anyone check on this?
Can the birth certificate from local Indian embassy be used - was it accepted in Canada?

thanks

A couple of posters have stated that CIC has refused to accept birth certificates issued by the Consulate either a real birth certificate or 10 year school certificate.
