Hey Guys
I am an international student from India, pursuing a Master's degree in Ontario. I shall finish my program in September and then apply for Ontario PNP under the Master's graduate stream.
They require the birth certificate as part of documents but the problem is that I don't have one, in fact I have never had one. I think my parents lost it many many years ago when I was still a child, and then nobody bothered to do anything about it.
Can I submit my CBSE class 10th certificate in lieu of the birth certificate? If not, should I get some kind of affidavit from India or what?
I am guessing I would need the birth certificate for CIC as well once I receive the nomination and apply for PR.
I hope at least a few of you respond to this. thanks!

I do not know the requirements of Ontario PNP program, but I was in a similar situation, both for my PR and my PNP. I got an Affidavit and based on the SSC certificate I got my Birth Certificate issued from the Municipal Corporation. I attached both an Affidavit and the Birth Certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation. I don't think the province would accept an SSC certificate in place of a Birth Certificate. They do not have that concept here I believe.

Is it possible that I can submit my class 10th certificate+a birth certificate issued by the Indian consulate (not Municipality)+an affidavit signed by both my parents stating that I am their son and I was born on so and so date?

I just can't get the municipality issued BC, its next to impossible in my case.

I had the same issue while applying for Federal. They strictly need any affidavit by saying that you never had birth certificate plus your 10th certificate with a letter saying that "your situation + 10 th grade certificate as a secondary proof".

You can get approved by PNP with Indian consulate based birth certificate but NOT FEDERAL! They are very strict about it!

They sent back my first time application due to non-authorized birth certificate (first time I added indian consulate based BC). Then I resubmitted with affidavit, letter, 10th grade certificate.

again, indian consulate bc is not valid according to FEDERAL RULES!

Birth Certificate is very very Important. Nothing else works most of the times( no affidavets, no letter from comsulate). Many of my friends got rejected due to this. You can get the Birth certificate made from India. If you birth was in Urban India of atleast small towns, I don't think it shall be a problem.

btw where were you born, maybe I can get some more info based on that?

But, surely there must be a way out for those who can't submit the BC??

Peter,

I and my friend fell on the same category. We were not able to submit our BC. what we did is, just an affidavit and 10th certificate as a proof. Both of our PR applications got approved and I got PR card too..

In PR application guidelines, they clearly mentioned that if you are not able to submit your bc, just get an affidavit/notarized letter stating that you are not able to provide BC.

If your statement is true, my application shouldn't have got approved!

thanks,
csp

please check this thread..

you may get some idea..

Ameet it would be wise for you to get an Affidavit from your home country. If you are in India, you can get both an Affidavit and also a Birth Certificate that can be issued to you by the Municipal Corporation based on your SSC certificate.

Thanks for responding! So, should I get someone in my family in India to have the affidavit prepared and then signed by my parents? Or is this affidavit supposed to be issued by some municipal authority?
Does anyone know the format of the affidavit to be prepared?
