Birth certificate and Place of birth

In my birth certificate all information are correct except my 'Place of birth' which does not match with my Passport. However I have my school certificate which matches in all detail with my passport. Which document, that you would suggest, I should submit to CIC?

If your school certificate has your name in full, your date of birth and your father's name > you are good to submit your school certificate. Better not give any room for suspicion to the VO.

What exactly is the mismatch in your Birth Certificate ? Is the place of birth completely different than that on passport ?

yes my school certificate has name and all other info, but my last name is given as just initial (first letter), but there is also another field in the certiticate which asks 'Expansion of the Initial' and where I have my complete last name.

yes place of birth is completely different in BC.

I also have the same problem , Place of birth mismatch between passport & BC . But Secondary certificate has only my name , DOB. Donot have father's Name . Can you tell me which document you submitted ?

In your case, the safest best > submit an AFFIDAVIT

I believe you also have CBSE board ceritificate which does not have father's name
i was in a simillar state and i provided following documents:
1. certificate of birth from Consulate
2. 10th marksheet( has DOB but no father's name) and 12th marksheet ( has father's name but no DOB)
3. Marriage certificate ( has both father name and DOB)

A hand written letter explaning reason for no birth ceritificate and documents eclosed in place of that.

I have that the school leaving ceritificate or Migration certificate issued has birth date and father's name. if this is the case you can attach that also.

Better to give as much documentation proof as possible.
I have received my AOR so assuming that they have accepted my alternate documents.

Thanks for the Reply. I recently heard that Certificate issues by CGI is not accepted by CIC . When did you send your Docs? Also incase if i donot have father's name in any of the 10th or 12th Certificate , What is the alternative document can be provided ?

Do you have school leaving certificate which has both Father's name and DOB?

If you dont have anything then make an affidavit from some canadian lawyer as last step.

Jaya1985, in addition to what Andy209 suggested, the lawyer might also have a legal format with him which you can follow....

This problem will continue to follow you if, for example, you successfully obtain PR and then later want to become a citizen.

I realize that this is not a pleasant route, but (assuming the birth certificate is correct), the best option for the long term is to correct the error on your passport. Change in "place of birth" is a service offered (scroll down to the bottom, "Miscellaneous Passport Services").

Hi,

Thanks for the Reply. I finally decided to include the birth certificate and also Letter explaning the Place of Birth mismatch. My Name , DOB , Pareant Name is correct in the BC & Passport. I am going to use BC place of birth in the PR application. Because chaning in the Passport would take more time. Will that be accepted by CIC or CIC would ask me to change passport , reapply ?

Ah, well, it depends on the nature of the difference. If they are two completely different cities, it might matter. But if it's just a difference in hierarchy (both are true, just one is more specific than the other), then you might not even have to explain.
