Not out of the woods yet...any guesses as to how long the HoC might take to debate the amendments?

I don't think it'll take more than 1 or 2 sessions. They are sitting tomorrow and on Fri. Hope, it will be done by the end of the week. But we'll see.

The main thing right now is how soon it will become an actual law and how long it will take them to replace all the application forms.

I will be filling my application this week 8) so once new application forms are out I will ctrl-C ctrl-v everything and will send it immediately once Bill C-6 is implemented :P

Go for it :) But be careful - there might be some significant changes! You'd better start with preparing supporting documentation and taking pics!

Expect it to have a decision from HoC in May.
Whether they accept the bill with these amendments or not, we will have to wait and see.
I have a hunch that they will. But dont expect this decision in a week.

You can only get people's personal opinions here.

In my opinion: since there has been so much delays, there seems to be wide consensus that the bill should be passed by at least July 1. So, IF the amendments are accepted, the bill should become law before that date.

Once again, it's only speculation. Nobody knows what's gonna happen in HoC right now.

Holy cow C-4 still hasn't passed yet? It left the Senate on April 12 with amendments and they haven't even discussed it once in the HoC since then. Doesn't bode well for us...

What's really frustrating about this whole affair is that all these delays are happening when the liberals have a freaking majority in HoC. Tories passed faster laws in a minority government with a hostile opposition than this government is doing with full control of parliament. I really hope I get my citizenship before 2019 because I wouldn't be surprised if the conservatives steamroll them in the next election and god only knows what will happen to citizenship laws then.

C-4 is explosive! LOL

Hi all,
Just a quick question, now that it's going back to HoC, does it follow all the stages? (1st reading, 2nd reading, etc...) or will it be a debate and straight to a vote.

Appreciate your comments.

Thanks,

Lol, don't forget the intent to live in Canada still in the current form.

Wow... :o :o

Nope, it's just for the final approval. No reading anymore!

For more info, please, take a look at How a bill becomes a law on their web-site!

Ehm, the House of Commons had a break in the second half of April just like the Senate. So the barely had a chance to discuss C-4 anyways.

I summarized in this thread what the next steps are and could be:

As noted in that other thread, please don't use it for guesses or debates, only for factual reports or questions about facts. I love discussions but let's have them here or in other threads. Thanks! :)
