Yeh. They were eager to pass bill c-24. Unfortunately not for bill c-6
Keep in mind the Cons had a majority in all houses back then to ensure all their bills went through; hence, several were easily approved just to be blocked by the Supreme Court later for being unconstitutional.

No committee meetings scheduled for C-6 this week. Instead they are busying studying "on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system".

I think they just follow the order of dates questions and bills were referred to committees .
The only thing that i fear is the fact they will soon go back on vacation . For february there's only 2 weeks approx of sitting dates ( 7 days fixed so far ). Let's hope for the best

Are you saying they do not deserve a vacation after the arduous task of selecting a meeting date? :) Next time you hear someone hoping to win the lottery remind them there is something way better than winning the jackpot, becoming a Senator :)

If that's the way they are running, then there is definitely no hope to complete before summer holiday. Below is the order of dates. Although I still think "Study on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system" is quite ridiculous thing for them to do now as there are much more important bills for them to review.

Bill C-6, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act and to make consequential amendments to another Act
(2016-12-15)
Bill S-214, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (cruelty-free cosmetics)
(2016-12-13)
Bill S-218, An Act respecting Latin American Heritage Month
(2016-12-12)
Bill C-210, An Act to amend the National Anthem Act (gender)
(2016-12-06)
Bill C-26, An Act to amend the Canada Pension Plan, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board Act and the Income Tax Act
(2016-12-05)
Bill S-228, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (prohibiting food and beverage marketing directed at children)
(2016-12-05)
The subject matter of those elements contained in Division 1 and 2 of Part 4 of Bill C-29, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2016 and other measures
(2016-11-22)
Study on the role of robotics, 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the healthcare system
(2016-10-25)
Bill S-211, An Act respecting National Sickle Cell Awareness Day
(2016-09-28)
Government response to the Second Report of the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs Science and Technology, entitled: The increasing incidence of obesity in Canada: causes, consequences and the way forward
(2016-08-05)

They don't go in order.
Bills C-26, C-29, and C-210 discussions are done in the committee.

They have:
One government Bill "C-6"
Three other Bills "S228, S214, and S218"
One Study: the 3D printing study

I guess that the priority goes first to government Bills. Looks like the agenda of Feb 1st and 2nd were agreed on before they received Bill C-6
I hope that Bill C-6 takes its place in their agenda very sooooon

does anyone know if there's a minimum number of meetings ?
Can they wrap up everything in one meeting ?

Top priority is 3D printers
As much as I'd like C6 to pass, I'm from Belgium, and to us, Health is ALWAYS paramount and should always go first.
The fact that they take care of this first is a good thing. Without good health, there's nothing.

I landed in Oct 2011 as PR than went back after 45 days.

Came back on Aug 2013 until today.

As per new rules i will be eligible in Nov-2017.

I filled tax right from 2011 until 2016(pending).

In 2013 i stayed less than 182 days.

When i should be eligible for it as per new rules ? Nov 2017 or after i file my tax for 2017 ( Feb/March 2018) ?

**** As per CIC***
Income tax filing
You must have met your personal income tax filing obligations in four taxation years that are fully or partially within the six years immediately before the date you apply.

*******
Please help me on understanding it.

Depends when you became PR and what was your status before.
Current rules: 4 years of PR needed
After C6 rules (future rules): 3 years of PR needed (and up to 1 year of temporary visa can count in the math under certain conditions)

He can use calculator on cic web
But seems year 2013 will not be counted since less than 183 days

Thats what the senator spoke about during debate, he gave example about the US citizen who had to visit his parents because they are sick.

But the question is it counted year calendar or for him the year starts on Aug 2013 (lets consider he landed in 2013 August)
