I disagree. The vulnerable children issue was too complex to be discussed as part of this bill. Some Senators may not have opposed it for different reasons.
Furthermore, your assumption is based the actual time it takes to discuss this particular amendment. For months the bill sponsor in the senate warned that there would be more amendments which strongly suggest that this amendment and others were being worked on behind the scene (to stall or in a good faith). So, rationally the amendments and inexperience of some senators affect the timeline.

I believe it's safe to assume that C-6 will never see the light before October, in case HoC returns it to the senate, no room will be left before summer break. The only possible way for C-6 to become a law in June, is HoC accepting all senates amendments.

You're entitled to your opinion but that doesn't make it factual, it's simply speculation. In respect of what I've said above - it's based on fact and fact alone, there is no "assumption".

You know what - you're right. Maybe C6 will NEVER EVER EVER EVER see the light of day!!!!

I'm not "too excited" but I am flabbergasted that so many people seem to think their priorities trump other important issues. If the amendment was out of scope - it would have been voted as being out of scope, any senator could have shut it down. The fact is the amendment received almost unanimous approval across by parties - because it's an important issue. It's an issue that others have promised to fix over the years but haven't.

And FYI this amendment added very little time onto the bill in the SoC and even if it hadn't been discussed or passed, Bill C6 would be no further forward in the HoC.

The fact is C6 is now in its final stages so everyone just needs to chill and keep an eye out over the next week or so. The bill will pass - it's not a matter of "if" anymore. The only thing in question is the SoC's 3 amendments.
I totally agree. I used to be of the opinion that this matter about children should be a separate bill. But judging by the arrogance of the government and how little they care about such measures that are very important but are not taken care of because the vast majority of Canadians wouldn't be affected (no "strengthening the middle class" there), I gotta say by now I see that dealing with this issue in this amendment was the only reasonable way to go. Note that even the UNHCR representative to Canada (UNHCR = United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which is THE international organization for refugee matters) sent a letter of support for the amendment.

This amendment literally added like 3 sitting days to the bill when it was dealt with in the Senate. That's equal to a delay of one week. So maybe y'all should look for a different scapegoat.

why
u will apply before 29 of june 2018, wait and u will see
I hope so. We'll see.

Why do you think C6 will take another year to come into force..... because C24?
Yes. Because of the C24 timeline indeed. And because I'm starting to think that I'm really not lucky with all this.
Does anyone know how long the other bills usually take before coming into force?

Then senate will not accept the decision, it will back and forth forever?sigh
And do you have a direct line to the speaker or any senator.. Or are you just speculating. In 99% of cases senate accepts the messages sent by HOC as it represents the will of the people. So no matter what happens to the amendments in the HOC the history of previous bills are pointing towards senate accepting the HOC's decision. Also why would c6 take 1 year to come into effect.c24 took 1 year because it was giving those who already qualified under 3/5 and had not applied due to various reasons a chance to apply. With c6 no such scenario exists.. I know this is a discussion thread but the level of paranoia and negativity for no good reason at all sometimes gets to me.. Calm down and let the MPs and senators do their jobs.. Since April c6 has moved at an excellent pace.. Wait 1 more month and then you can moan all you want if the bill does not become law..
