Where is our man with highly placed friends at the IRCC?

Coffee1981 - any updates from your friends?

Give it some time guys. There will be no update today or likely this week as Friday is a short day with very little done.
There is slight chance that government will reject amendment for minors. The other two amendments will stand.

If they reject any/all amendments, senate will deal with it fast as well as this will be quick vote after short debate. Be optimistic. May will be a good month for us in terms of news.

It will be 1095 days from the day you land after the bill passes.
If you were hear before landing date as temporary resident, those count at 50% rate.
Thanks for the reply. Other than the total number or days there is a per year requirement also right. I am talking about that

"have, since becoming a permanent resident, been physically present in Canada for at least 183 days during any four (4) calendar years that are fully or partially within the six (6) years immediately before you apply"

Any help will be much appretiated
Once the bill is passed that 4 years will change to 3 years but the 183 days will still remain right? so interested to know the counting of that 183 days based on the scenario I gave before

Remember that he declared the bill dead already. So don't expect any good IRCC insight here :)

Ok, got it that it is and agenda item and a suggestion by Leader of Govt that HOC votes on this. The 24 hours is from this.

A motion for the consideration of Senate amendments requires 24 hours’ written notice pursuant to Standing Order 77(1).

That just means that such a motion has to be proposed at least 24 hours before it is discussed. That doesn't mean that it has to be discussed within 24 hours. They could theoretically wait for months before they talk about the motion. Not that they will. I'm just saying that the 24 hours is the minimum time between a motion being proposed and the motion being discussed.

I just called Hon Minister Hussein's office. They said Minister is aware of importance of bill and will finalize the HoC Strategy soon.

GUYS, PLEASE CALL NOW !!! Ask fast implementation....tell them already delayed too much.
Do you honestly think your calls make any difference? You think the Minister can easily change his priorities and schedules because someone is calling to ask about one of the tons of bills out there? Come on man, give them a break. At this stage, all we can all do is sit and wait while Bill C-6 makes its last sprint to the finish line. For the record, do you think whoever talked to you on the phone will really go to the Minister and say some random PR called and said we need to speed up C6?

I feel like we are the same person ... that's exactly what I would have said ... same with all the online petitions

Yes, my call makes a difference when 50 other like me call...

This is Canada and fortunately MPs listen when it's a concern to quite a few people.

By the way :) let's celebrate a little bit that the bill has come out of the dreadful senate after one year ....after all we were all anxious waiter's (not sure whether this is correct English but don't care for now)

I think an admin has cleared some messages.
Which is weird because we were just having fun and teasing.
People are WAYYY too sensitive.
Also, I think I spend too much life on this forum... LOL
You guys have almost become my family now LMAO ;D

I think the major hurdle has been crossed and the 3 amendments presented by the senate will be accepted by the HoC as they do not hinder the main objective of the bill.

Due to the CON induced misinformation of "C-6 helps terrorists".....the resistance to bill will increase with time.

Thats why, very important that HoC pass it ASAP without further back-forth with Senate.
