Thanks to spiritsoul for the update on what happened in the Senate today. As mentioned I didn't have the time today to listen to the debate. As it is right now there is one new amendment that is before the Senate and needs to be dealt with. It seems like this will be the case tomorrow. What happens thereafter, we can only see.
As pointed out I don't want to get into the guessing game of how long these new amendments are going to take, particularly since there is no reliable info on how many of these amendments are coming. Let's stick to the facts and not to speculation.
What the recent debates and votes taught us is that amendments need 1-4 sitting days in the Senate to be dealt with. But again, we don't know how many such amendments are coming up, so that doesn't really help us in guessing a time. Knowing how long it takes to bake a bread is pointless if you don't know how many breads are about to be made
I stand with the estimate I made in the initial post of this whole thread:
- This means under the perfectest of circumstances (I know, "perfectest" is not a word, but still) this bill will become law in April.
- Under the worst circumstances this bill will become law in the summer.
I think that's all we have. Long story short: No one can tell how long these amendment games will take exactly. We can only wait and see. The fact how fast this new amendment will be dealt with over the next days will give us a better idea on how much each amendment can delay the bill.
