Yet, the law is equal for all, just because some extremists, fundamentalists, and crooks exploited a subtly established system of immigration.

guess there are a lot of people like us, on the edge.

I can't believe this nightmare came to an end .. I am in this country since more than six years! Then Suddenly 3 week prior to my eligibility a new law comes .. after 35 years of having the same law! Lol!

Me too. I have been here since 2008, and will be eligible 1st week of July.

one year implementation time seems to be too good to believe...
if this is the case, why cons. were rushing and sweeping this bill in the HoC and Senate like crazy???

Waiting for CIC to announce the one year later implementation date... tho gc website already said something it is still a bit blur ...
I'll be eligible on the 26th June and depending on the implementation date I might delay a few days or send it out right away.

You are fine.. Just give few days extra and I would suggest 1100 days as psychological point of view..

Because they want to remove extremists and people accused of terrorism like Omar Khadr as soon as they can -- it was even tweeted by Alexander upon Royal Assent.

I just became a PR last year...

I'm already braced for the absolute worst. Very disappointed in the almost certain outcome of this bill I've been through hell and back with the CIC, with the PAFSO strike and the Canada Post strike, and all that stress and paperwork over the years...

We just can't catch a break with those guys.

Just by checking legisinfo, no information about when they will come into force yet. However I do think there is a chance that CIC removes the pre-PR time first and then the extra one year, or vice versa.

What about "Intention to reside" part? Did it come to effect immediately? Or when it will come into effect?

If they are on the same line in the come into force paragraph .. they will be enforced together.

is this new law will be applicable to recent Permanent Residents as well? and what about the student duration?
