I am a UK citizen currently in Canada on a tourist visa. I have a partner here, and wish to become a permanent resident. I have been here on and off for two years on tourist visas. The officer said last time I came through that I should not enter again without a work or permanent resident visa. I have realized that although I have a job offer in Canada and a positive LMO for the position, I can't apply for a work visa from inside Canada. If I apply from Canada but pick it up from England (I am visiting in June) will I be allowed entry? My other option is to apply for family sponsorship through my common-law partner (who is Canadian). If I apply from here should I apply for inland or outland? Will I be able to re-enter in June if I am waiting for my Permanent Residency?

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

If immigration already has you down as someone who is visiting a bit too much, they could decide to deny you entry at some point. If you have applied inland and leave again and try to come back, that could be the time they deny you entry and if they do, since you are no longer in Canada, an inland application would automatically be cancelled. Therefore if you must travel, you should apply outland.

Thanks for the reply.

I was wondering also - if I am applying for a temporary foreign work visa, can I send it to the UK if I am currently in Canada? I am aware the rules are 'apply outside Canada' for my circumstances, but is it OK to send them from here and pick the work visa up in June from England? I have a written job offer and a positive LMO.

Thanks again!

If you are visa exempt to Canada, you can apply for a work permit on entry. That is, you can either go to the border, go to the US, come back and apply for your work permit then or if you don't want to apply for it until June for some reason, go to England and as you come back, apply for it when you pass through immigration.
