My parents have bought my wife, daughter and I tickets to Canada for Christmas.
My daughter and I are Canadian and my wife is Chinese.
We married a year ago and hold Tier 4 study visas in the UK with another 2 years left of our PhDs.
She has traveled to around 10 counties including Canada, US, Germany, Spain...
We are planning to visit for Christmas and again at the end of summer so multi-entry is better.
I've read about '10 Year Multiple Entry Visas for Visitors' and want to know how to maximize the chances of her receiving one.
We also want to make the process as quick as possible as we have short notice and will travel to Spain before the trip to Canada.

I'm not sure what is the best way to apply, as my wife, hosted by my parents, what kind of documents I should provide.

I don't see an edit button.... is the processing time the same I apply online of submit in person?
I'm only 30 minutes away from Canada house in London so both are convenient.

You don't apply through Canada House.

Follow the instructions on the CIC site to ensure it's submitted correctly. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-how.asp

To maximize the chances of approval, you want to show she has ties outside of Canada (e.g. evidence of your studies, residence in the UK, etc).

Hi,

It's best if you submit a paper application through VFS/VAC (in Central London) instead of an online application.

It's up to the visa officer to grant a single or multiple entry visa depending on the assessment made.

As both you and your daughter are Canadians (do your parents also live in Canada?), your wife will have stronger family ties to Canada as compared to the UK/China. Hence, she must prove that she has very strong reasons to return.

She must include evidence for her:
1. Immigration status in the UK: Student visa, Biometric Resident Permit, etc

2. Study ties: Leave approval letter from the university (even though you'll be visiting at Christmas) + letter from her professor about her PhD studies and why she must return, tuition fee receipts, PhD stipend, etc

3. Does she have: Bank account/credit cards/rent agreement/car loan in her name in the UK? Any property/land ownership, finances, family ties to China?

4. Do prepare a Travel History explanation: In a table format list the countries she has visited + visa details + entry/exit dates + purpose of visit

Cheers

Edit:
I would not state that you intend to visit again in the summer. Do keep your visit details to only a Christmas visit. All going well, your wife will be issued a multiple-entry visa (so she can visit again in the summer)

The evidence shouldn't be hard for the UK, a copy or residence permit, a letter from her university and 1 year apartment lease.

That link gives me two choices:
Apply online for a visitor visa
Apply on paper for a visitor visa

do you know if they have the same processing times?

Online apps can be processed anywhere in the IRCC global visa office network. Recently, we've noticed online apps from London are taking much longer as compared to even a 1-day turnaround time for a paper app submitted at the London VFS/VAC
