In Canada, it is best to find a good bank that has no fees, with good perks to joining. The reason certain banks can offer no fee options is because they rely on the client to mostly do self serve banking through online means.
The two best no fee banks in Canada in my opinion are PC Financial and Tangerine. Both do not have a monthly fee, with unlimited transactions. PC Financial is a part of CIBC and Tangerine is now a part of Scotia Bank.
I have had an account with PC Financial for several years and never had a problem. I just recently opened a new account with Tangerine as they offered a free $50 bonus for joining. The catch was that i had to go online and search google for a friend code, as without one it is only a $25 bonus to join. The one that genuinely worked for me was the one at this site: tangerineorangekeycode .net.
What are your experiences with no fee banks? As i know for students some of the banks such as BMO offer special offers for students, like credit cards with lower interest rates etc.
