After using google streetview, I think Calgary is the best city in Canada - newer infrastucture, organization, space available. The weather however is terribly cold, but this is the only drawback. The city is very similar to the US cities. Its not so overpopulated and the gas prices are the lowest in Canada. Calgary is also the sunniest city in Canada.
Vancouver seems to be older city with older buildings and infrastructure, some old ugly industrial areas are visible and it rains too much.
Keep in mind there is high pollution in Alberta, but this is located 1000 km north of Calgary so it is no affected in such a way. Edmonton however seem to be highly affected by those tar sands works.
