I am canadian currently living and working in lebanon with my husband and son. I started collecting the docs to sponsor my husband. I'm worried about the financial issue. The application guide says that I should have a job arrangement in canada to be accepted as a sponsor but if I start applying for jobs now I'm afraid jobs won't wait and I don't want to go before my husband. Any suggestions anyone? Is it enough to show that I started applying for jobs (emails sent)?

Dear Hilda,

We are in the same boat. I am canadian living currently in Lebanon with my husband (applicant). I am worried about the fact that I should have a job arrangement in canada to be accepted as a sponsor. I am afraid if I start applying now then I may have to go before him for interviews and maybe the job won't wait till my husband is approved. Did u go through the same thing? Can I just start with the application without having a job aligned in canada?

Hi all,

A little about me and my process: I am currently living in Lebanon with my husband (applicant) and 2 children... I sent in the application to Mississauga March 28, 2014..the same day i received an email stating they received my file and also received another email stating that i was approved as a sponsor and that my file will be sent to Beirut....on ecas all it says decision made for sponsor and application received for applicant (to this day)...on February 20, 2015 I received an email from them (to the applicant) asking for an updated police certificate, copy of updated passport and a detailed plan to stating how we are going to move to canada..... i sent them all the requested information on March 10, 2015. Now just waiting again.....as you can see by reading the previous stories everyones case is different....hopefully the processing times are shorter shorter as the waiting game kills youuuuuuuuuuuuu..... :'(

hi guys, did anybody have status update or news about his case recently?
I haven't hear anything from embassy since february.

Thanks

nothing yet, and others?

I heard that the embassy are focusing on syrian refugee cases which causing delay on all other cases. Hopfuly we get some news soon.

Nothing yet for me.

My application changed to In Process today: "We started processing xxxx's application on March 31, 2015"

What does this mean?

Hi, I applied to sponsor spouse through the beirut visa office on september 11 th 2015. I received my sponsor eligibility letter on september 21st 2015. The status on e-cas changed to "we started processing your application on september 17th 2015". Still no word from anyone. My husband even called the embassy/visa office and they were not very helpful. They were very confused and couldn't answer our questions.
However, I know many canadians who sponsored their spouses and it took them exactly a year to receive their visa.

The e-cas is always updated much later than actual events. You should'nt rely on it. For some people it doesnt get updated for months and they suddenly get their deciision made.
If you need information you can call the call center or try calling the embassy even though I think they arent helpful.

Hi, you don't need a job to sponsor your spouse or to be eligible. I'm 21 and I'm still studying in University. I sent my application and I was approved to be a sponsor. My application was sent to beirut for processing.

Cool. I hope that they started looking at our applications.
