Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some help/suggestions in terms of my situation.
I’ve lived in Vancouver for almost 8 years and I currently have a post-graduation work permit (after studying at UBC for 4 years) that is going to expire at the end of February. Right after university I worked as a Spanish Customer Service Rep for a tech company for two years and then I moved up and got another job at another company as an Account Manager (client management). However, by the end of February I would only be 10 months in that ‘skilled’ role.
I applied to the BC PNP skilled worker category in October with them and got an AOR in October 14,2014 SO-14-6479. With the current processing times taking 10-13 months, I’ll be around 5 months in by the end of Feb (post-graduation work permit expires). My employer might not be able to wait for that long and sadly they might need to re-open my position because of this. I’m trying to see if they are able to hire someone temporarily instead or maybe give me a leave of some sort. What would you recommend in this type of situation? I was at a really good point in my career and feel super frustrated and sad that I might have to leave Canada for good because of something like this. My employer is willing to review all of my options but unfortunately, they need someone doing my job.
I’ve signed up to take the language test at the end of Feb so that I can apply to Express Entry. However, I will be unemployed at the moment while I wait for the nomination (if it goes through). I will also have to change my status to visitor and will probably stay 1 or 2 more months sorting everything out and then just head back home for bit.
Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated. Is there a way to maybe study and then work for 2-4 months in a skilled position so that I can apply to CEC if the PNP doesn’t go through? What other options could work?
Many thanks!
