Hi, Guys,

I am just beginning my application under BC PNP. I have read the CIC and BC PNP websites, but there is no detailed information about the LMO( Labor Market Opinion). I checked Service Canada, where several LMO application forms are available, but none of them seem apply to PNP.( The most relavent one is EMP 5517, but the desription is that this application is for hiring Temporary workers). Could any one here share me where to get the correct LMO application? Appreciate it!!

Regards,
Kevin

BTW, EMP5517 description is here.

This form will be used by employers to apply for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) to hire temporary foreign workers for high skilled occupations. The application and all other required documents must be submitted to Service Canada.

are you in canada? or applying outside canada? what category are applying? if applying via strategic occupation, both low skilled and skilled needs LMO. your employer needs or have applied already for you to be able to work in BC. your employer may apply online via the http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/jobs/foreign_workers/unnamed_lmo.shtml.

hope this helps...

Hi,micaela,

thank for your prompt resonse and help!

Yes,I am applying outside Canada and under BC PNP strategic occupation. So after the process described the link you referred, then applicants can be temporary workers for employers. then how to apply a PR under BC PNP? Sorry I am little bit confused about relationship between this temporary workers LMO and application under BC PNP, which requires that a job is indeterminate (sometimes referred to as “permanent”) has no pre-determined end date. Could you help to clarify it?

Appreciate your help

Hi Steffi,

Thank you for your information.

I plan to appy BC PNP strategic program, but BC PNP website information is very limited. I know I need to provide documents listed in the checklist, but I do NOT know how to obtain LMO, which is required by the checklist. So you just provide all the documents list in the checlist except LMO, right?

Appreciate it

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin.

I provided everything (but not LMO, not mandatory) plus supporting stuff. proof, that the employer advertised the position at jobbank canada for at least 14 days and we put a sheet together, how many people applied and why they want to hire me instead. but that could be included into the support letter your employer has to write.

Hope, I could help you out. Once I've sent it, it took 10 weeks to get the nomination.

LMO is required for these who're in Canada already.

My way was the same as Steffi described - consolidated application from my perspective Employer and me, without LMO. The BC PNP officer has called to my Employer once to sort few things out (some proves that the position has been advertised in media and few more questions). I've got no calls at all.

I don't agree. LMO is required if you want to work while waiting for the Nomation.
Otherwise LMO is not required if you are already in Canada. Either you still have a work permit while applying for PNP OR your work permit expires while waiting but then you have to wait without working OR you apply for LMO if your work permit is expired while waiting for PNP or you just do it our way.

Yep, to be clear, I had to add that LMO is not required to apply if you're outside Canada. To work in Canada during the PNP processing time you, obviously, have to get LMO first.
