I'll apply for my student visa at CHC Islamabad in Dec-10, I am going for 1 year MEng program in chemical engg. The bank statement that I am able to show is worth CAD $15000 covering a period of 4 months. Is this statement sufficient? Univ tuition fee for 1 year is CAD $ 7300.

Or right now my father can sale a plot and show CAD $ 26000, in his account for the next 2 months till I apply for visa in December?
I am worried of bank statement, Pl. suggest, thanks.

Hey Traceable....

Let us know when your proposed course gonna commence ?

I would suggest if it is for Winter Semester, you must pay first year full tuition fee and rest amount in your account is fine.
Plus,if you just get your land value evaluated by some Engineering Firm, and could attach with Visa Application , it would work too.

Otherwise, it is a good idea to show 25k CAD in your Father account.

All the best...

Hasnaat,
My course work will start in Jan-2011,
Paying 1st year fee is a good thought, what if visa is rejected due to some other reason, univrsity is able to return my fee?

If my father transfers money now in his account, it will be in his account for only 2 months till I apply for visa in December. Does the 4 month rule (sufficent funds in account) is applicable on sponser as well?
Thanks for the clarifications.

Bro,

Since you have sufficient funds available in your own account, it is alright for your sponsor to show BS from any period.
And 2 months is good if he can maintain this amount till you get your Visa permit.

You must check with your University about Refund Policy.

More or less, they charge certain amount as admin fee that is non refundable.

Again, are you sure, applying on Dec1 will save your any delay fro Visa approval.

In fact it is highly recommended to apply at least 2 months before Study start.

All the best:)

Hasnaat,
I would prefer the option of paying univ fee and then showing my own statement of $15,000 for living expenses.
Dec1 is late but this way I am able to show my funds for complete 4 months, If I apply earlier I can show statement of $10,000 only. Still risk is there but I cant see any other option.
I have applied in Halifax, McGill and Alberta universities (admission confirmation awaited), do you think its possible to get visa on basis of halifax (as being cheap, require less funds) but attend McGill on arriving in Canada?

Wish me luck and pray good for me, thanks.
Regards,

But , I am not sure if it works without risks.

macgill is a top univ will raise ur credentials many folds in front of vo if u get admisison there.

no question, not a single question was asked from my older brother when vo took a look at my bro's I-20, written UC Berkeley.

all vo said here is your token and collect ur passport after 2 months.

I'd say skip this semester, apply for may term if it is offered and show your proper bank statements. it is important.

Do it everything right on the first go , don't take risks.

visa processing is time consuming in pakistan and if u apllied in dec, you would be already late for the upcomign semster and u will have to defer it. or VO officer could refuse your application for applying late.

you would have to apply 3-2 months in advance, to be honest, what i have seen from my friends, it is correct. They get medicals after one month and a half.

Thanks all for useful suggestions, I was looking for official guideline of 4 months bank statement, that is here.
I am not allowed to post links

Apply for visa 2-3 months before classes start, this is mentioned here:
I am not allowed to post links

Well on checking my bank history I noticed a minimum balance of 11400$ CAD is maintained since 27th June-10. (11000$ is a fix deposit, will it hurt?). So I will pay tuition fees through my father and then apply in Nov-10 by showing my statement only for living expenses, I am sure this will work now.
Anyone applying for winter-11?

Yasir,
You mean the amount must be as a fixed deposit? A fix deposit is not a liquid cash and is not readily available.
Earlier in 2008 I got HSMP letter of UK and their visa requirement was that a fix deposit is not preferrable as it is not instantly available. Note that bank need 1 day notice to get amount out of fix deposit.
Further fix deposit is also not shown in regular bank statement.
Can you clarify your point, may be I should keep my deposit as fixed...
