Bank Letter Issue- Please Help

I recently moved back to India from the US and therefore my bank and my POF account is in the US. Due to issues with getting a bank account in India my money is still in the US. My US bank is refusing to give me a letter for the Proof of Funds requirement. Can someone please suggest an alternative that will be accepted by CIC? Based on your responses I will have to contact my bank in the US and ask them for the alternatives you suggest so please let me know.

Your 6 months of statement should be enough as long as as it has the required funds in it. And if you have the refusal email from the bank, you can also show it in the LOE to show that you are unable to get the official bank letter as your bank refused to provide one.

I showed my POF with just bank statements and credit card statements. I didnt even bother getting a letter from bank. So, far my application is progressing normally.

Credit card statements are more to show that you have or do not have any liabilities. This is just to show that you are in a healthy financial state irrespective of any loans you have taken.

Printed online statements in color from the last 6 months is all you need. No need for credit card statements.

Well, I was not sure on this as it states specifically in their website - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp to obtain letter from bank which should include any outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans. Since most of the banks do not provide such a letter, we provide them bank statements and credit card statements in order to fulfill their POF requirements. Well, that's how I interpreted this information. Maybe others have done it without the cc statements. But, there is no harm in providing one when you have the information. That's my 2 cents on this.

You have interpreted it correctly but banks in America do not operate like that.

I have Citizens bank also. Their online statements are in color. Meaning the letter head is usually green in color.

My US Bank was initially giving me the run-around as well. Since you only have a verbal refusal for them, if you have time, I would recommend you submit your request in a written format (online chat, email, online customer service portal, etc.).

In the written request, you should also register your displeasure with how the matter is being treated, and with the fact that you can't seem to get a simple letter from them. You have deposited your money with them, money which they are likely profiting from, due to banking fees, and which they are surely using to finance their credit programmes; it's unacceptable that they then can't even provide you with a simple letter describing and outlining YOUR money, in the manner requested.

At the very least, you may get a written response from them stating they can't accommodate your request (which you can then include along with the online bank statements, for your PR application), and at best, they will get worked into a tizzy and a personalized letter from an Assistant Vice President at the bank will be emailed to you, the next day, in the format you've requested (which is what happened for me )

Thanks for your response. I have sent them an email on their online portal but I got a response that they have sent me online statements which of course isn't what I was requesting I will send them one again and hope to have a similar response as you have had. Do you mind telling me your bank's name?
