Bangladeshis be aware of Etihad Airways

During my flight to Canada for quite a number of occassions I have found that Etihad authorities adopt a discrimination policy to Bangladeshis. When their flights delay they ask for the nationality ID to provide Hotel in transit. If you have Bangladeshi passport they will give you the least priority and misbehave with you like anythimg. During my flights from Dhaka to Canada and Canada to Dhaka I have faced that. Although I am a frequent flyer I have faced this discrimation on quite a number of occassions.I had to stay in the lounge for 14 hours in a delay at Abu Dhabi and I was not provided a room whereas other nationalities got rooms. After repeated complain and request they allotted me snooge and shower facility in the lounge but not a room. So be aware Etihad when you fly fly next time.

I cannot agree with you more. I have handled a store in Dubai Duty free for over 5 years; going there almost 2 times a week. I have seen first hand the blatent discrimination that goes on. Sad, but true. However, i would urge you to not only raise this in this forum, but also raise it in the local newspaper. European or whites get preferance, but one reason is, they dont keep quiet. They write, they call, they protest and raise the matter at the highest levels. UAE in general is a beautiful country, very tolerent as well. However, it is home to 190 natonalities, many of them, particluarly Middle Eastern origin people have a very serious complex that they should have had all the oppurtunities even if they are not qualified for that; hence the discrimination. But I also would like to assure you that Bangladeshi or not, any one who documents a complain is taken very seriously. Etihad will not read this forum, so besides rasing your voice here, raise it in thier website, write to www.gulfnews.com and www.khaleejtimes.com and 7 days newspaper, i do not know thier website. But Please Please ensure that your protest is registered where it matters.

You agree or do not agree?Your first line does not support the subsequent lines. However, I will raise this issue to UAE newspapers and Bangladeshi newspapers also. Moreover, Etihads's current service quality has also deteriorated a lot. They did not even bother to call notify beforehand if a flight is delayed or cancelled. You will have to go to the airport to know the actual fact. Their call centres give wrong info.My flight was on 29 June at 22:25 but it was delayed till 9:30 am on 30th June.But they did not inform. All the passengers lined up in the check in counter at Pearson International Airport and it was then revealed that they are issuing voucher for taxi to go home and come back next morning. Not only that their 9:30 am flight again delayd till 10:45 am but their call centre had no info. They lined up all the passengers for taxi voucher for hours (not less than three hours). Many people left without voucher by their own to avoid the long que.

At Abu Dhabi during the long transit they provided hotels to some prefered nationalities.Bangladeshis were the least priority sector. Bangladeshis were mostly given basic lounge facility reluctantly.When I shouted to the counter clerk he quickly allotted me snooging and shower facility but other Bangladeshis even elderly people were sitting on the sofa for fourteen long hours.

It is good you raised this point, now dont stop here, tell everyone, let the world know the misdeeds of *#$^&*& airlines, raise this issue at all forums, i never travelled in this airline however cheap are they, even if they fly me free- i will not fly with it. This airlines have no reputation and should be ignored. Let arabs fly with it. Why choose this airline when you have so many good airlines to fly?

Arabs have got their gutts and prestiges much higher since the oil price stood all time high after the 9/11. They are believed to be blamed for the immense price hike of foods in 2007- till now. They along with some of their western business partners have increased the price of oil in the International market and this has jittered the world economy. Still world market is unsteady, Airlines like British Airways and many others have reached very near to bust, even Air Canada- they were about to be declared busted by the bank but at the last period they got huge amount of $$$$$ in loan from the banks.

About Arab Airlines, They cant even run without the 3rd world workers getting boarded onto their flights and after that they keep showing racism to them. To some extent I have seen this in Singapore airlines, though by a few of the flight attendants. I think Cathay Pacific is good ! mediajunkie also felt the same way in Kuwait Airways.

Others shed your ideas.

Cathay carries DAC passengers by Dragon air (Airbus - I like these coz they are mosltly new aircrafts but they are prone to more air turbulation but I really like these far eastern pilots for their efficient operations) to Hong Kong, and then with wide bodied BOEING, they carry them over the pacific Canada.

Is it discrimination or is it because if you hold a Bangladeshi passport , you may need a visa to enter the particular country ? If that is the case it would be the same on any airline you fly. Most people on western passports usually have "visa on arrival" right.

Oh my God! Right now i'm thinking about which flight i may select for landing in canada and reading this topic. Its a big confusion which will be better. seniors please advise who is already traveled which will be good.

No matter what you select, if you touch Heatlrow, Air Canada will carry you to Lester B. Pearson Airport. When I first went to Canada by Emirates in 2005, I thought that From Heathrow, Emirates would carry us all the way to the other side of the Atlantic, instead Air Canada carried us the Transatlantic zone. Now Emirates operates a direct Flight from Dubai to Toronto. I have never attempted Cathay Pacific and Korean Air Before. I wanna try them next time.

You have missed the point. It is not visa on arrival case, we are talking about transit hotel facility in case of unusual delay by a airline. Etihad people asked about nationality identity and then americans,europeans were taken to 5star hotels and others nationalities were given low quality hotel and bangladeshis were given only lounge in an ordinery hotel.
