IMO still not 100% clear. I mean, I wouldn't consider a grocery store to be in that category but a cook LMO for the Deli department that cooks fresh dishes, could be considered as such

The Conservative government has made a complete disaster of the TFW program. It has been used by corporations to abuse migrant workers, treating them like slaves, and at the same time as driven down wages of Canadians and increased unemployment.

I have no faith that Harper will fix this program and make it work as well as it used to under the Liberals. Hopefully Harper will lose the next election and we can being to repair our very damaged immigration program.

The story is very painful. Have a look
Yes, it was very painful to read! How is it possible that people do not understand what the word "TEMPORARY" means?

And nice that the writer of that article just so happens to offer immigration services. What a crock!

If you are a security guard in a restaurant, you would be affected, for example. If, on the other hand, you are a security guard at Best Buy, you wouldn't be. Both the employer AND the NOC have to be on the list. Who do you work for?
Wow thats great!in fact im working in residential condominium.as you said even im secuirty guard ,as long not in food industries, then should not be affceted.
I Hope so :D.
Thanks!

Hi! My brother is about to get his visa approval this month from UAE Canada visa office. Under food counter service position.
If approved, does anybody knows if he can still enter canada or do we have to wait until the morotarium is lifted?

hi I Got this answer from P2C forum; And I am now confused :( I already have visa and letter of approval from cic but my employer still can't decide on when to book a flight for me.....

" One restaurant owner in our town is exactly in your situation. The TFW is in the Phil and already has a visa to come to canada. The problem is that when he/she flies to canada (Vancouver to be exact), that's where the work permit should be issued. With the current moratorium in the food service sector the Vancouver cic will not issue any work permits. So our suggestion to that particular TFW is to stay put in the Phil first and wait until the moratorium is lifted. Hopefully Hindi pa ma-expire yung visa Niya by then."

"Temporary foreign workers who have been approved for a work permit by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) but have not yet arrived in Canada will not be affected. They will remain eligible for a work permit at a port of entry, if they are otherwise admissible to Canada."

this base on the link above,.

hope it helps,. cheers
