Yes it's the most important reason for rejection. Recently, my friend's visa is rejected under spp just becoz' of 6 backlogs in Engineering. It's a fact.

Backlog is when student failed in some subjects but is still allowed to continue in next semester probably he must clear the previous failed subjects in it+ new subjects in that semester.
