Backlog clearance--what does it mean for new applications?

Applicants at Singapore have been getting the interview letters within 2 months of file transfer.

I see more people getting processed fast from November on across all VO's in comparison from applicants before that who are still waiting.

That's very encouraging ;D. If applicants can receive notification of an interview much faster, an interview will no longer be such an incredibly bad thing and add up to a year to the application process, although it's not the best case scenario. I know Americans who end up needing interviews, even though it's rare, end up having many months if not a year or two added to their application and I'm sure that used to be the case for other offices too.

One applicant went in process March 28 and recieved the interview letter May 17, and there are several others who have recieved it within 2 months. However, applicants from before November are also recieving the interview letters within the past month. It seems to me that they have sped up the processing of the current applications before they started clearing the backlog.
