Background Declaration Problem

I am about to complete documents for permanent residency and there is a question if I or any other member of my family in the application was ever ordered to leave any country.
Since my wife was ordered to leave Germany 13 years ago after exceeding her 3 months visitor stay I am worried if that information can hurt our chances to get accepted for permanent residency.
Does anyone have any similar experiences with this kind of situation or someone who knows more details about this kind of problem.
Thanks.

Write down that she was ordered to leave.

But it won't matter to CIC since it was 13 yrs ago + it was in Germany.

Though write it down, because if you hide information that may jeopardize your PR process
So write in the box below.

Pls attach a letter explaining the reason of her overstay. Make sure it is a genuine one. Overstay in any country is not a good thing but till it is genuine and no deportation was ordered it should be fine. Don't worry.

Agreed! Think of it in terms of.....there is a possibility they could find out, since a lot of countries have started sharing information. If you do not disclose, it is almost like making a blatant statement that it never happened.

It shouldnt have much impact, unless other laws were broken or it became a recurring habit (happened more than once).

List it in the form and provide an explanation letter, giving detail about the circumstances. These are different for everyone and could range from something simple as not being aware of status expiry to pretty much anything.

Thanks, I agree it's nothing like a criminal act or something but I'll write it down anyways since I wouldn't want to create any more complications down the road.

Like the others said....I strongly encourage providing an explanation letter as well, so that you have an opportunity to explain the circumstance. Good luck!
