could be vary from applicants to others.

you might get these done tomorrow or 2 -3 years from now. when it comes to BG check no one knows how long will be taking as it will be taking care of by third parties like ( CBSA).
Not sure what's going on with my BG. I was put on secondary clearance at the beginning of this year for a US visa. However, it was cleared after 2 months and I got my visa. Now, the same thing happening again for citizenship applications.

@Md Sajeeb unfortunately, it's impossible to answer this question. Background checks timelines vary a lot from a person to another. Usually, it's the security checks conducted by CBSA and CSIS that take the most time, and that can take many months or even years, and there isn't really a way to know how long they will take for you. You may become a citizen in a few weeks, or in 2026, no idea really. Good luck.
is it not that LPP is the one that needs to go through CSIS?
Background check being done by RCPM (criminal record check) ?

L : language, obviously checked by IRCC.
P : physical presence, also checked by IRCC, with the help of the entry/exit report send by CBSA.
P : prohibitions, validated by IRCC once L, P and background checks are done. It's just that people usually say LPP because for most, BC is done quickly and LP comes later, so L and P are the last checks for the seconds P and it comes with them.

Also, background checks contain both criminality checks done by RCMP and security checks done by CBSA and mostly CSIS, and its the one who, if needed by IRCC, will potentially take ages... :/

Thank you for shedding light onto something that puzzled me for a while...

So basically, since my background check is complete (knowledge test too BTW), it means matters with RCPM/CSIS are cleared and what remains for me is: Language (IRCC) + Physical Presence (IRCC/CBSA). Once these two (L+P) are done, the "last P" will come with them (right away may I say?).

Is my understanding correct?

i applied on September 10th with my wife as family application . we are now at the same stage . everything is completed we both are waiting for Prohibitions to be completed . i believe that the hardest part to pass was background check . but on the other hand i read lots of comments about tons of people stuck on prohibitons as well . im so confused . i dont know what to expect. i know its not even 3 months for me but all the other experiences that i heard/read from other people is making me anxious . in your post you mentioned that prohibitions is being checked by IRCC . CSIS is not included on that part ? and what should i expect in my situation ? background , physical presence language , test all completed . just that prohibitions is waiting to be completed .

Hi Guys, I had a question regarding the security clearance. Everything is passed for me except for prohibitions. I have been waiting for it to b completed for almost 2 months now. My background check has also passed and was never asked for fingerprints. I emailed my local office yesterday and I received a response stating 'Your application is pending finalization of your clearances by IRCC’s partners. For all citizenship applications, background checks are initiated, and IRCC works with its partners to complete the verification. During this process, additional delays may occur'. Just wanted to get some insights. Would I be considered a non-routine application? should I expect my prohibitions to get updated soon or would it take forever? My GCMS also states that my criminal check is passed.

It can definitely feel like a long wait when everything else is done, but the background check and prohibitions often take a bit more time. I’d say just hang in there and keep checking for updates
