I'm not sure, but I believe if the father is a Canadian citizen, you and him should go to the closest Canadian Embassy or Consulate to get your son a Canadian birth certificate and a passport.

I believe that it also matters how the father received his citizenship and if the baby was born after 2009 (sounds like s/he was).

If father is Canadian citizen then your child is Canadian since the day he/she was born. You should get him/her a Canadian citizenship certificate first process last 6 months but in reality is taking 3 months after you have the certificate you can apply for a Canadian passport. Not sure if China is visa exempt country if it's not then when you apply for a visa the officer will suggest baby enters Canada with a Canadian passport.

This is not the case if your husband obtained His citizenship by descent.

As mentioned earlier, it all depends on how/when the father became a citizen.
