once you are Canadian citizen and one of the parents has generictic link to child. The child is automatically a Canadian citizen. You can apply for citizenship in india as well as certificate.

I need your help. My husband and myself are Canadian permanent residents since June 2016, but we have not been officially living in Canada because my surrogate is in Jamaica. She will be giving birth in February 2017 and we want to bring our baby to Canada to live. I am worried that my family will be separated and want to know the easiest way to bring a newborn to Canada. I have read that I would have to sponsor my newborn and that it may take 13 months. However, while doing this as a resident one of us must be in Canada to apply for the sponsorship, while the other person stays with the baby in Jamaica. I don't want to lose my residency but I don't want my family to be separated either. Any suggestions?

You have 2 options to get your baby to Canada.IrieLady said:
1. Apply for TRV for the baby.
2. If TRV fails, apply for TRP
If both TRV and TRP are rejected, then you will be forced to separate family since 1 parent must return to Canada to submit PR app and live here during processing.

We would definitely pay the hospital bill, no matter what it is ( maybe not all at once). Just don't want to lose the Canadian residency.

You could try for a TRV but unless your surrogate can show significant ties to her home country, it is unlikely to be approved. If she does get a TRV and is visibly pregnant when entering Canada, CBSA may refuse her entry unless she can show proof of funds to cover all care and birth costs.IrieLady said:

If you can't afford to pay the bill when due, you should not do it.
