Hi,

I am currently holding a work permit and my wife is under visitor visa. We are expecting our babies.

Just wondering which nationality our babies will belong to if they are born in Canada?

I checked a few sources that government has changed its citizenship law recently. In this case, babies are probably not Canadian because neither of parents are PR or citizens?

A little bit confused. Can anyone share similar experiences?

Thanks,
Ray

Anybody born on Canadian soil is a Canadian citizen by birth no matter what nationality are the parents. This does not mean though that that parent will get a Canadian citizenship as well. When your work permit/visa expire you will have to leave and apply for immigrant visa or any other legal mean to come back.

Foreign diplomat's children are an exception. They won't be canadian by birth.
