You know, I never minded paperwork - even taxes - until this whole immigration process. I really hate it now. I do appreciate how much help these forums have been, I never could have gotten this far without all the help!

So I got PPR and I'm filling out the B4 form so when our COPR comes, we can shoot down to Oregon and get my stuff from storage and come back and land with everything.

I don't know how to list my hobby supplies - about $1k worth of soap making supplies, or any of the little items. Here's what my list looks like, and I'm not sure it's right. I don't have a ton of stuff, just a small trailer full, but some of it is expensive and not easily replaceable in Canada.

Please let me know if this is acceptable at the border - help me get this last damn form right! Should I add more "groups" or less, or what? "Other Household Goods" would be small decorations and whatnot that are more sentimental in value that cash value and total up to maybe $100.

~Kitchenware (small hand applicances, dishes, pots, pans, silverware)
~Books (kid's books, fiction, non-fiction, reference)
~Hobby supplies (scented oils, molds, misc small supplies)
~Nintendo Wii, used, white colour (Serial: ) - will write in serial number when we get there
~Video Games, used (for Wii, Xbox, computer/PC)
~Kid's toys
~Clothing
~Bedding, linens, holiday decorations, other household goods

That looks similar to my fiancé's list and it was fine, we just put values for each group of items

Thank you... I see a lot of posts about using the b4a or an excel spreadsheet to itemize every little thing and I really hope I don't have to do that!

He didn't have any problems when he first landed or when we went to customs a few weeks later to collect it all.
(I had a fully itemised list of what was in each box too, but that was for my own benefit so I didn't have to go through each box to find stuff.)

What you've got is fine, awor.
No need to sweat this one any more (well, unless you plan to import a vehicle :p).
You will have to estimate a value (total I think, but maybe the categories too). Don't sweat that either. Just choose a figure.

Thank you! :D I have the values filled out on the form, was just being lazy and didn't list them here! So glad I'm good to go!
No worries on importing a vehicle, my hubby hates my van so he bought me a new SUV (here in Alberta) and my sister will get mine LOL

Oh that bites! I've had 2 people back into me in parking lots, and had a stoned bicyclist crash into the side of my current van, none of them ever got repaired lol. I'm hoping I don't meet up with a moose in the new car!

Did anyone know what happen if sponsor accompany with their spouse/common-law partners, does the sponsor needs to also declare any house hold good with their partner/spouse? or just only the sponsored spouse/common-law partner? If yes, do both sponsor and applicant need to fill out B4 form separately?

Both returning Canadians and/or new immigrants need to complete B4s (if you want to be able to import items duty-free - fully for immigrant, up to 10k per item for returning Canadian). For jointly owned goods, they can go on either person's B4 so you could have just one (if you car is jointly titled, etc).

Thank you OhCanadiana!

Do you know if a canadian citizens was a resident outside canada for 15 years, does he/she needs to complete B4 form too. Most of the things are personal good and mainly instruments which I owned and used. Do I still have to write down on the B4 form for all every used goods.

Yes (assuming you've been out of Canada for at least 1 year), and you need to submit it at the time of entry so that they become part of the record of goods you are importing at zero rated duty.

The details of what you can import depend on how long you've been outside of Canada (eg 1-5 years, 5+ years and the value - any items over 10k?) Take a look at http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5087-eng.html#s8 and http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5113-eng.html

It's one family per B4 form. So you would tick both "former resident" for the Canadian and "settler" for the sponsored spouse. That's what I did.
