Can anyone help me on the B4/B4A forms? I am landing on Saturday and am a little confused. I plan to just land Saturday (flagpole at the Peace Bridge). I will not be claiming anything as all my stuff is still in storage and I won't be getting it until after Christmas. I also will be importing my vehicle at that time as well. My questions are this:

1) When filling out the B4 do I just leave the front page blank (Description of Goods as well as the section about a vehicle)? And if I leave that blank, just attach the B4A with all of my goods in storage listed on that form?

2)What about my car, do I list that on the B4A form as well?

3) Would it be better for me to just do an excel spreadsheet with all my information on it instead of filling out the list on the B4A?

4) I have no idea how much most of my items are worth and the list of items I have is fairly basic. For example, I made a sheet that has a box number and a generic list for computer games/ supplies from desk. Should I just say box of computer games and estimate the value? I want to be specific but I am not sure how specific I should be.

Anyone who can help me figure this out would be greatly appreciated!

Not an answer to your question, but another one to add to it :) What about goods that are ALREADY in Canada (i.e. already got them through customs on previous visits by my soon-to-be-PR-spouse?)

Good question! I don't care about clothing items, etc. but I do have several electronic items already in Canada (3 computers and a an ipad and kindle). Not sure if those need to be declared.

They are already here and you didn't have any issues bringing them in, so nope, don't declare them :D

Kinda what I figured ;) When I flagpole with my wife we're not really gonna have much to bring over that's hers anymore, so I was curious how they'd look at a mostly-empty B4 form. But I guess they won't be too fussed with it :) It's not like the B4 form can torpedo the whole process right?

One lesson I learned from my wife's landing is not to stress out too much over the B4. I did and when my wife landed at YYZ last week, the customs guy looked at it for like a total of 2 seconds and then said "ok". The big thing for him was if we were carrying $10000+ (which we weren't) and if we had any goods to follow to declare (goods being shipped) which we didn't (he said the b4 is most important for if you have a lot of goods to follow being shipped). From what I know, you don't have to be too specific and group like items (you can simply list "clothes" for a bunch of clothes) and give a rough approximate value. The only thing that my be a pain is importing the car. But for everything else, don't stress too much about it.

Thanks keesio! I pretty much know the steps for importing my car, all is good with that, but I don't know where I have to list the car in the B4/B4A. I don't want to not have it listed correctly and then have hassles when I DO try to import it!!
