I have applied for my husband family class sponsorship.I have applied in April 2016, currently has been 20 months now he has past his interview and papers were sent for background declaration but hasn't heard from cic since then. I was wondering what would be the next step? and how long will it take to hear from the immigration? cause as far as I know it says it takes overall 12 months processing time.

I applied for my husband as well. And still waiting since June, 2016. There's nothing that can speed up the process. All we can do is just wait, in patiently

12 months time is for 2017 applicants, for 2016 applicants it still 24 months.
Please order notes to find out what is going on. Also if your ECAS says DM then its very good. Other than that CIC would probably give you good news very soon. Maybe in JAN 2018.
